Why 10 Minutes? The Thinking Behind the Daily 10.
If you've spent any time around here, you've heard "the Daily 10" more times than you can count. I want to take a minute and explain what it actually is, why it's the backbone of this whole program, and why something this small works better than you'd expect. What it is Ten minutes of intentional movement, five days a week. That's it. A walk. A bodyweight circuit. Some yoga. Dancing in the kitchen. Shooting hoops in the driveway. It doesn't matter what it is. What matters is that you chose to move your body on purpose, for ten minutes, and you did it. Why so small? Because the goal of the Daily 10 isn't fitness. Not at first. The goal is to become someone who moves every day. Most people fail at exercise because they start with a plan built for the person they want to be instead of the person they are right now. An hour a day, six days a week, starting Monday. It lasts about two weeks, and then life happens, and it all falls apart. Ten minutes is small enough that you can do it on your worst day. Sick kid, long shift, bad night of sleep. You can still find ten minutes. And a habit you can do on your worst day is a habit that survives. The science behind it This isn't just me being optimistic. A few things back this up: Small doses of movement matter more than people think. A large 2023 review out of the University of Cambridge found that about 11 minutes a day of moderate activity was linked to roughly a 23% lower risk of early death. Eleven minutes. You don't need an hour to change your health. You need consistency. Habits are built by repetition, not intensity. Behavior researchers like BJ Fogg have shown that the fastest way to make something automatic is to make it tiny and do it often. Your brain doesn't care how hard the workout was. It cares how many times you showed up. Every Daily 10 is a rep for the habit itself. Starting is the hardest part, and ten minutes lowers the bar to start. Once you're moving, you'll often go longer than ten minutes. That's great. But the Daily 10 never asks for more than ten, so there's never a reason to skip it.

I am in my sixties. Most mornings I wake up with stiff, achy joints. I spend 15-20 min each day shortly after waking, stretching every part of me. When I get done, I am awake and feeling so much more loosened up.
Posting in right thread?
Hi Mike, I posted for today but I don’t think it went to my original thread?
