Fresh Air Friday
Happy Fresh Air Friday 😀 No matter where you are in your day, take a moment to find the horizon. Looking at a distant point is a calming practice for your eyes, giving them a much-needed break from screens. This simple act of focusing on the vastness can feel incredibly reassuring, quieting your mind and reminding you that there is always something beautiful on the horizon. 🌻 Best to you as you finish this month and begin new adventures with your students this school year.

I like this! 🙂
Fresh Air Friday
For you: As you prepare for the weekend, do a full-body stretch to release all the week's tension. Keep it simple. Keep it fresh ... in the open air! For students: Lead a "Friday Walk" in a funny way. Walk like a crab, skip, or walk on your tiptoes for a few steps to a fun beat. 🙌

I remember funny walks being so fun as a kid. Can’t get too many of my too-cool 18 year old adult learners to do them though. Haha Great idea!

@Laura Mcgahey That’s very true. Maybe if I could convince them no one else was watching. Haha Something to try, just to see.
Wednesday Wins
For you: Keep a small "Wins" notebook. Take 60 seconds to write down one good thing from the week. Remember to smile! For students: Give them a blank piece of paper and have them draw or write about a win they had today. -- Make a space where they can keep these reflections / wins and re-read them from time to time. Perhaps even during a challenging time so as to remember all the Great they have accomplished. Do you think this could be useful for yourself (do you already have this practice going?) or could you see yourself using with the learners in your care? ⭐

I used to do this by writing a daily win on a paper I had on the wall in my office. It was encouraging to read my in-the-moment enthusiasm. :) I could use this with my tutoring students. I think looking back at the wins over time would really benefit their self-confidence. Great idea!

@Laura Mcgahey Good point and absolutely agree; sharing what works for us is a great way to build trust with a learner.
Saturday Self-Care
🍎 Your full, happy tank matters, too! Spend some time doing something that requires no one else's approval. It could be drawing, singing, or just daydreaming. What is it for you?

@Laura Mcgahey Absolutely 💯
Visionary Thursday
What vision do you have for your class or school in this new year? Ponder this question: What is the single most important feeling I want my students to have when they walk in the door on the first day, week, month? If school is in session, For Students: What is one thing that makes our classroom feel like a safe and welcoming space? Gentle Reminders: 👐 Check out the Classroom Tab - A 7-Day Starter & Classes await 🫁 See how using specific 'natural' strategies activate specific results (focus, motivation, mood) It's Fascinating 🤩 💛 Laura

For me it’s that they feel safe, and eventually as the semester progresses, that they feel safe enough to unmask to any degree. In my experience with working 1:1 with neurodivergent adults, feeling safe in their identity is always #1. :)
