Rant
Hey y’all. I’ve decided to put my two weeks in at the corporate salon I work at currently. It’s a really hard decision and I’m nervous about the future. My mental health has not been great recently and the salon isn’t helping. I’m still very new to grooming (around 6 months I think) and I’m really trying my best and clearly it isn’t good enough. My “trainer” makes me feel like an idiot and talks behind my back to other managers and I’m sick of everything. I feel like I can’t get help or have a rough day without getting shitted on. And now my confidence is completely shot. Sorry this is long but I needed to rant. If yall have any advice or any of yalls own stories I’d love to hear it 💗

@Damcy Lucy Grooming is my main focus. I groom outside of work though too. Like doing my own dog or doing some elderly people’s dogs in my hometown

@Damcy Lucy I try my best to know as much as I can about products or ways to help pet parents at home. For instance people come in and say stuff about the nails being sharp after a short time and I tell them they can grab a nail file from home (since most people have them) and can sometimes round the edges off.

Hey everyone! I did my first litter of puppies today! It was six miniature schnauzer puppies. I think they turned out cute for being 1: my first time doing puppies this small & 2: doing the puppy schnauzer cut. :) The pet parent wanted them to look like traditional schnauzers so I gave them the normal hula skirts and did the schnauzer head. What do yall think? 💗

@Kayla Jackson thank you!
Grooming
I'm wondering how many of you groom your own dogs? I have three toy poodles and I take them to Petco to be groomed however the cost of getting them grown is close to $400 for all three. That includes the cost and tip. Any suggestions on a good grooming kit to have at home to avoid this expense?

Hey there! So I worked as a bather for a while before I got my dog that needed to be groomed. And it took a lot of practice to get him good but that’s how I started! I’m a baby groomer now at a shop and I think without practicing first on my own I’d be way more stressed than I am now. They have some affordable options on Amazon that I started with and then you can gradually upgrade. I got a cheap set of scissors (thinners, straights, curves) but I mostly used my thinners because it’s way less scary lol. But YouTube has a lot of great tutorials for beginners you should check out
Scissor spray
What’s yalls go to scissor spray? I’m looking to add some new products in and would love to hear yalls thoughts!
Hey Everyone !! 🐶
My names Silver I am not a professional groomer (yet!) I Did have some bathing experience when I worked at doggy daycares but the way we were trained (if we were trained) no one should have been bathing anyone’s dog. I didn’t start educating myself until I got my own dogs & refused to take them to groomers because the ones I worked with were ….well u know where I’m going with the at So not wanting my dogs to potentially be abused I took to mainly Tiktok to learn how to groom my dogs at home & would binge people’s lives while they groomed, asked questions & just practiced. It’s been a year & im still learning & practicing but I joined because I wanted a safe space to continue learning from others without being judged because any community tends to get toxic towards new ppl. So here are some fun CRINGE grooms I’ve done on my dogs when I first started VS my most recent grooms which were a few days ago. Not perfect but the progress is there 😅😅
