What are your projects in the next few weeks or months?
Hey there 👋 I thought I would jump on & talk about my project over the next few days or weeks depending on the weather as we are SUPPOSE to get some rain this afternoon & into the weekend. I have an old BBQ area which we never use anymore so I got rid of the BBQ (it was rusting anyway) & I plan to either move the big heavy concrete table to another part of the yard or leave it there if we can't move it. I will lift up the pavers & place some compost, manure & mulch there to improve the soil & then plant my running seedlings in the area eg. Watermelon, rock melon, sweet potato etc. That will be one side of the garden completed & the next job is to fix up the citrus trees and the soil under them. Don't be shy & add your projects below 👇

I’ve set myself the goal to replace my creepy old yard shed with a newer version that I’ll actually want to store my mower etc. in.

@Steve Thomas unfortunately it’s that early 90’s age. Just rotten pine structure and weird compressed board sheeting. I’ve been back and forwarding a few times on reskinning it but it’s too far gone. I have saved a few hardwood off cuts and random lengths from the rafters that have had new lives on the lathe so not all is lost..
Not much growth
It’s been a week or so since I did a vid not much growth but coming along slowly this container growing takes some getting used to.

Looking good. You’ve reminded me my jalapeno didn’t make it through last season so I need to find a replacement. No lack of other chilies in the garden, but poppers with ribs is a bit of a thing I’ve been missing now you’ve brought it up @Steve Thomas

@Steve Thomas 💯 As soon as it’s green or from the garden it’s a salad in my book I’m a Weber kettle guy so any excuse to fire it up on the weekends is fine by me
Cooking with snake and purple king beans
Heres a great recipe I adapted to include the beans growing at the moment. I used real chicken so its no longer vegan and increased the chicken cook time accordingly. It was served with rice, pickled cucumbers from the recipe Daizy shared and a salad with rocket, nastursium leaves and flowers, radishes and garlic chives from the garden plus 2 lonely carrots from the bottom of the fridge. It all turned out bright and delicious. The peanut sauce is the the best bit i think so apologies to anyone with a peanut allergy. https://www.pickuplimes.com/recipe/vegan-gado-gado-with-sun-dried-tomatoes-186

@Charlene R indeed. My go to is some blanched beans, soft boiled egg and a sprinkling of bacon pieces and feta for a quick salad. Just toss it all together in a bowl with a lid to give it a vigorous shake and you’re done

Such a go to I went with it tonight after getting it in my mind. Green beans make it a much better colour contrast but still just as tasty. NB - added a splash of white wine vinegar for a bit of spark
You Saw it First
This is a scene from a possible video coming up on the channel. I wanted you all to see it first! I love my chickens; they really are a big part of the micro farm here at Mullumbimby. Oh, can anyone guess the song in the video?

@Charlene R you might be onto something here. I got home this evening and went down to check the girls and top-up food and it’s such a great way to end the day. Also agree with @Marty Ware it’s way easier to be relaxed with them when they’re in the run vs roaming the garden and helping themselves. That’s like an Olympic marathon trying to shoo them from the good stuff into the areas I want them to “help” with….

What a great space! Looks like a great place to sit and relax amongst such a great variety of fresh plants and produce. I’ll have to check out that pumpkin as it looks so bright and fun in the garden
