Book Club: In Search of God's Will Starts Feb 2, 2025
Hey Everyone Just a quick reminder that the book club starts tomorrow night, 2 Feb. I've now uploaded the first two chapters in the online course for you to be able to read to get a good understanding of what the book is going to be about, plus some of the discernment exercises that we will be doing while reading through the book. You can work through it at your own pace. Reach out with any questions.

Hi Wes, I got the tech help I needed and can now access the chapters. I would like to share something here . I can't see anywhere else where I can comment at this stage: There is a narrative that is even common among Christians that "my life is about me". But if I was to model my life on Jesus example my narrative would be very different. Jesus met with His Father every morning. He knew He was loved and pleased His Father. He was strengthened and prepared each day for the work of that day. It was His Father that He consistently turned to. The rest of the time Jesus was at work. He worked with people, training those closest to Him; the 3, the 12, the 72 and teaching and healing wherever He went. His work was life giving, physically, spiritually, mentally... His ministry was supported in practical ways by women of means and homes open to Him for meals. He probably followed the same pattern that He instructed the 72 to follow. He didn't concern Himself with tomorrow's provisions. I could model my life according to Jesus and turn down all the voices of church, family, and the world, that tells me I need a hobby or something else for myself, other than the precious time spent with my Father each day. Those voices are actually burdening me with something more I should do. I don't need something more. I only need: "I love you my precious daughter. I am pleased with you. Well done my good and faithful servant." from my heavenly Father.

Hi Wes, I can't seem to find where/how to add comments. Just a heads up for others who haven't seen this weeks Discernment Exercises, I found it easier to start with the last one first.
Discernment Exercise 12
Passage: Isaiah 43:1-4 Ponder: “you are mine”, “I will be with you”, “you are precious and honoured… because I love you” created, formed, redeemed, called by name “because I love you”: - not because you have done anything honourable - not because you have created or formed or redeemed or ransomed yourself - because I created you, made you Mine and have chosen to be with you - because I chose to elevate you to a place of honour and made you precious - because I have extended my love beyond Jacob and Israel - because you one of the all whom I called (Acts 2:39) - because the Gentiles are also made clean (Acts 11:9) and you have received the same Holy Spirit that Peter and the first Jewish believers received (Acts 11:15) Prayer: God says: how the table have turned, and my first precious and chosen people are far from Me, while Gentiles such as yourself are Mine. Please pray for My people that they would come home, Christ is the all sufficient ransom for all peoples. No more exchanges of one nation for another. I say: Lord God, I pray for Israel. I pray for Jews everywhere that they would come home and meet the Messiah, Your Son Jesus… Lord, I praise You for loving me, just because You do. I do not deserve honour, yet You honour me like the wayward son who returned home (Luke 15:21-32). I do not deserve Your goodness. Will I ever know why You are good to me? May I not complain that You are unkind or unfair again. Amen

Hi Everyone I live on the north side of Brisbane. My husband and I are currently seeking God's will about church for us and our adult daughter who is in our care. We also have a son who is living locally. I look forward to listening prayer every week. Even if I can't join in, I love to listen in to what God is saying to everyone else. As God speaks to each one and each one shares, it is easy to see that what we are reading is a living word that can guide us every day. Some people say that the Bible doesn't have all the answers, I don't know about that. I think that's like saying God doesn't have all the answers.
