Call to Prayer re Cyclone Alfred
Call to Pray for Southeast Queensland/Northern NSW - Cyclone Alfred 5 March 2025 “He calmed the storm and the waves grew silent”. Psalm 107:29 (NET) With Cyclone Alfred currently off the coast of Queensland and uncertainty as to its current trajectory, Australia Prays is calling people to pray for those areas that could be potentially affected by the cyclone. As March 5 is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the Lent season, we see this as an appropriate day to join as a whole church to pray. Asking God for “the storm to be calmed and the waves to grow silent.” A key aspect of prayer is asking God what is on the Father’s heart for this situation and to join with him in praying for the situation. As a guide, there are two key questions that we encourage you to ask God: 1. Lord, how do you want me to pray? 2. Lord, what do you want me to do? As we sit ask these questions, it will help to frame the day of prayer, to guide us in how to pray, but also guide us into what action as God’s people we should be taking at this time. A key prayer is also praying for all those in authority, our government leaders, disaster management teams, emergency services and charities etc. who will be at the forefront of managing this situation. Praying that they will have the wisdom, knowledge and understanding they need to do what needs to be done. So you can share with others praying for Cyclone Alfred, we have set up a specific Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/BrisbanePrays. This will give you the opportunity to gather with others who are praying, share how God is leading you to pray and be kept up to date with key prayer points for the day. Thank you for sharing this with others as we call God’s people to pray. The Australia Prays Team
