I have a little over a hundred subscribers. I just started an ABC type series, alot of what I share is in the mental health space, sometimes recipes or song snippets.
When you're a writer, does when you write, feel like writing to you?
It shouldn't. Think about it. When you read something does it feel like you're simply reading stuff? Or, does the story come to life in your mind? That is how your writing should feel. As you are writing, your mind should be playing it out like a movie, so that the reader can read it that way. You should see the actions of the scenes and make the words come out that way. This may seem like a no-brainer but if you want to become known for your writing, you have to write the way you see things in your head. Now, here comes the tricky part. Read your own writing and if it doesn't flow like a scene from a movie, or feel like you are reading a movie script, you need to rewrite it. Remember, if a picture is worth a thousand words and you are a writer not a director, your 1000 words need to paint a picture. So, make it a moving picture and you will have a masterpiece. Your thoughts?

@Melissa Poetrylpls I always have a pen and paper handy! Lol. My Dad drilled it into me. That was because he was a truck driver and kept pen and paper handy to do math or write down directions or phone numbers. It's not a bad habit to have.
Have you ever been so emotionally involved...
in your writing, that you actually had a physical reaction to what you wrote? I'm talking 😬frightened 😄brought to laughter 😭brought to tears 😮shocked 😜arroused If so, lay the scene out for us or just copy it over so we can have a look. Just keep it PG rated, please.

@Zane Dowling I was writing lyrics for a song about my Dad, he passed away in 2020. Also have a doc I keep handy to record childhood memories, I call them micro-stories. Sometimes they really get me in my feelings. But you roll with it.
What's your current writing project?
Let's here about the world you are creating, or the poem you have been inspired to write recently. Whatever yoiu are working on, we want to know a little bit about it.

Started characters and settings for a Gothic novel trilogy....just in the planning stages at the moment.
Anyone ever written a song and want to share?
We have a new member @Muid Stack who is interested in song writing. Having written poetry and songs, I understand that these two processes often go hand in hand. I would say that the largest part of writing a song is timing and tempo but there is more to it than that. A good song lyric can move and inspire whole generations. Songs like Man in the Mirror made famous by the legendary Michael Jackson will live on in the hearts of millions of people and I am sure will touch the hearts of those to come when they hear it. This is the best part of song writing. Did you know it was written in colaboration by Glen Ballard and Siedah Garrett. Look these two artists in their own right up and you can see their importance in mainstream music. Often times song and music writers write songs just to sell them. The diversity of music lends itself to many styles. From rap, to pop, to rock and roll, and all points in between and beyond, music and lyrics can get the heart and the body moving like nothing else. Please share any insights you might have about writing songs or anything I have touched on here in the comments. If you want to share more than just a comment, post your own experience in a separate post.

Yes!! I can work and rework lyrics all the time but trying to get a proper beat going is not my forte....or even deciding what genre it should become.
