Memorial Day
Today we pause with gratitude for the men and women who gave their lives and service to our country. Memorial Day is not just a long weekend. It is a day to remember the cost carried by families, and communities, to promote freedom throughout the world. At Oasis Builders, we talk about home, family, land, and building steady lives. Days like this remind us that much of what we are able to build rests on sacrifices we should never forget. With respect and gratitude, we remember.

Happy Mothers Day
Mother’s Day reminds us that much of life is built quietly. A garden does not begin with harvest. It begins with steady care, watering, protecting, feeding, and tending small things before abundance is visible. Mothers often live the same. They tend the unseen layers of a home through comfort, encouragement, concern, peace and love. Nature teaches us that living systems grow stronger through steady care, and many families are rooted by that kind of love. Happy Mother’s Day to the mothers, grandmothers, stepmothers, foster mothers, and nurturing women who help life grow around them.

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms.
This is why we can’t have nice things…
There are 14 hungry deer in my yard. Almost all of the does are carrying babies. They’re hungry and eating for multiples!!
This is why we can’t have nice things…

@Theresa Elliott I live in the middle of the woods. I couldn't fence it in if I wanted to.

@Theresa Elliott Yep! Won't be long. Unfortunately, for many automobiles, we are very over-populated. Not healthy either. And with all the hunters we have in our area...still overpopulated
Permaculture, Polyculture, and Guild
What do all these words mean? Let's discuss... I see permaculture not just as a planting scheme, but a design system that mimics patterns and relationships found in nature. Permaculture attempts to arrange land, water, plants, animals, paths, light, work, and timing so all the pieces augment each other. The goal is over time is to provide less outside input with increased sustainability. In hierarchy, permaculture is a design philosophy. Polyculture is the practice of growing different species together instead of one crop alone. A guild is a small intentional plant community within one of the above larger systems. Syntropic agriculture is a type of polyculture that organizes plants by succession, stratification, timing, pruning, and function. A food forest is another type of polyculture with layered perennials.

Wow....you went WAY over my head with all that.
Truth and kindness belong together.
Came across this today. Made me wonder, are we teaching our children classical wisdom. Classical wisdom is the old, time-tested teaching that helps people live with better judgment, stronger character, clearer thinking, and deeper purpose. It is not just old books. It is the steady wisdom passed down through scripture, history, philosophy, literature, nature, family practice, and lived experience. Classical wisdom teaches us how to become the kind of person who can think clearly, choose wisely, and live with purpose.

I'm a boomer and raised my kids with the values I grew up with. I did, however, sprinkle in some "realism" and truth of modern times with it. In each of them, I can see glimpses of these values. My oldest loves deeply and cherishes friendships. He is helpful and generous. My middle is hard working, deep thinking, and has a strong work ethic. My youngest is the most empathetic and kind. Always thinking of others. Passionate.
