Happy New Years Eve
Well, we made it through 2025. Hopefully you made it with grace. 2025 was a real mixed bag for me. So I'm taking the opportunity to reset, redefine, and refocus for next year. I'm excited about the newness and for stepping into unfamiliar opportunities. I'm excited to challenge myself and achieve some goals. What are you excited about? What are you doing for new years eve?

We are actually going to a friends house this evening! Sit around a fire, graze good food, and talk about the world and of course solve all the problems! I am looking forward to being stronger and healthier next year!

2026 and You!
How was your health overall this year? Are you on the slow weight gain trajectory, putting on a few pounds each year? How many meals did you eat this year that actually made you feel good? 2026 is calling and this can be your year. Remember when it comes to eating well, it is what you do MOST OFTEN that really matters. You have 21 chances a week to have good meals. If most of those are the kind that make you feel good and are balanced, then you are doing well. Consistency is key. But consistency does not come without enjoying your food. If food feels like a chore, you are not likely to continue eating that way. But here you can have both. That's why the Spirited Food Method is so powerful - it takes into account how you actually eat so your healthy meal plan can and will be sustainable long term. In that way, you completely change your health trajectory and begin to correct conditions that developed over years. But you must start with consistency or nothing changes.

The end of 2025 was good for me. I started cutting carbs and adding more veggies. I felt terrific. Then a few days of Christmas eating and more carbs, I felt terrible. So now back to protein, veggies and few carbs. I feel better already! Looking forward to continuing good healthy meals in 2026!
Christmas Menu
Here is the menu I will be doing next week. (with input from the family attending) Red wine marinated Tri-Tip Roast, grilled Grilled Pork Tenderloin Mushrooms in a red wine sauce Hasselback Russet Potatoes and Hasselback Sweet Potatoes Green Bean Casserole Roasted or grilled Asparagus Buttermilk Pie Cranberry Key Lime Pie When we have family in for Christmas, my husband always makes homemade Bagels for breakfast. I am so looking forward to the food, fun and family!

@Andrew Brooks I hope you can see the photo. It is a recipe from my daughter. Graham cracker crust, pudding like filling.
Cooking with wine
I am making a Ragu sauce today to freeze. I misread the instructions and did not cook down the wine. I am sure it will be fine, but that started me wondering why the wine is cooked down. Is it just to intensify the flavor? or does it have another purpose?
