Here's a simple tool for the moments when you feel yourself reacting: THE THREE QUESTIONS 1. What do I know? Separate the facts from the story you're creating. 2. What am I assuming? Notice the meaning or motivation you've assigned. 3. What outcome do I want? Decide what you actually want your response to accomplish. If you still need more information: Ask one more question before making one more statement. Save this one somewhere you can see it. 💬 Which of the three questions do you think you need most often?

You receive an email that immediately frustrates you. Your first instinct is to respond and correct what was said. Here's today's leadership tip: Don't type from the emotion. Pause. Read it again. Ask yourself: “What outcome do I actually want from my response?” Then write toward the outcome—not the irritation. 💬 What helps you slow down when something gets an immediate emotional reaction from you?
