Potential TCC issue?
Recently picked up an automatic 87. During slight low rpm acceleration in D/OD I feel that the car struggles/shakes a bit. It also has harsh engagement from park into reverse, park into D/OD or reverse into D/OD. If in 1st or 2nd gear it feels fine. Given the symptoms and the reading I’ve done, it seems like a potential TCC solenoid issue. Could anyone potentially confirm my thoughts?

Have you checked the TV cable to make sure it's been adjusted correctly? I'm not familiar with the L98 platform, but the TV cable has a procedure for setting it that should just require simple tools and buddy. Since it shouldn't cost you anything that's where I'd start. Also, check your fluid for discoloration and any weird smells.

Sounds good! Good luck!
87 purchase
Heading an hour away to pickup an 87 with 118k. Looked it it last weekend and it seems to be in decent shape! Needs some mechanical tlc, Ujoints, valve cover leak and the such but nothing I can’t tackle. I’ll share pics/details once it’s here!

These cars look great in black! and I love seeing vintage knick knacks getting passed down with them. I've heard of the vacuum, I imagine it's not the best, but still really cool
Headlight Motors...
My driver's side headlight motor went out recently. Does anybody know the best place to go online to get one? (I have an 85)

@Peter Pan has a point, if the headlight is making any noise at all when you flip on/off your headlights the motor itself is probably fine. The plastic bushing in these headlights are known to fail, but replacements are cheap and not too difficult to repair yourself.

@Elijah Cobb might be different on an 85, but here's a video that covers replacing headlight motor gears: https://youtu.be/A79Np_hxGzo?is=rGvoMi0C3spItt5L It'll probably look like Cheeto dust when you open the gear housing. In this video the guy mentions that brass gears are a waste of money and I tend to agree. There is a worm gear on the headlight motor that spins and turns the gear. If the bushings fail they can cause the gear to bind which causes the worm gear to chew up the teeth on the gear. If you're using brass gears it's more likely to cause damage to the worm gear on the headlight motor which would be a lot more expensive and just the same amount of work to replace as a chewed up gear and bushings. Just my $.02. Good luck with the repair!
