What Success Means Now
In my 20's success meant more money. In my 30's success meant more people. In my 40's success meant more projects. In my 50's success meant increasing my net worth. In my 60's success meant surviving to retirement. Now success means... Success at 30 often looks very different at 50 or 60. And that’s not loss—it’s refinement. Clarity comes when you stop using outdated scorecards. How has your definition of success changed?

Similar to your path, Larry. In my 20's I was focused on the money. In my 30's I was working on influence. In my 40's I was obsessed with more responsibility. In my fifties, I am working on my exit strategy! Not retiring, just a much needed change.
Choosing Direction Over Certainty
I've always been a x self-starter. What that also involved not waiting to have all my ducks in a row. Sometimes, (wish it was every time) it worked out great. Many times it was a disaster! (Exaggerating a little) Clarity rarely gives certainty but it can provide direction. Leaders don’t wait until they feel 100% sure—they move when the direction is clear enough. What small step of direction is already in front of you?

Shipping the imperfect thing instead of refining it again. It's a curse, really.
What phase are you in?
Kim Foster, MD did research on how people reinvented themselves. She looked into the stories of famous business leaders, innovators, and even movie stars. She discovered 5 phases or steps they had in common. Here's the link to the YouTube video where she summarized her findings. https://youtu.be/OobwwQ5aG5Q?si=fakAj8A1Jrkb8u1t I created this poll to see where our members are at in their reinvention journey. What level are you working on?

I'm definitely building a new environment, with a side order of fear of failure.

I help stuck Gen X professionals make a smart, low-risk decision about what to do next… and actually act on it.
