Wavy hair texture tutorial
A friend of mine asked me to record a tutorial for wavy hair texture when using charcoal. She found it quite helpful, so I thought I would post it here in case anyone wants some tips or is curious.

I loved watching you work! Great job - and I appreciated the way you explained how those little highlights you added at the end - the individual strands - add such realism. White charcoal - that's a revelation - I was wondering how you'd add super thin lines on black charcoal! Also - I am coveting your HARD charcoal pencil - I struggle to find hard charcoal - it's always soft sticks around me - if you'd tell me the brand, I could see if I can find it. THank you for sharing!!

How is everyone fairing if you have kids and juggling work and child care? Sorry I've been quiet, hectic trying to keep on top of things. Trying to do art when there's a quiet moment ❤️🥰

@Jenny Warden Yay! I look forward to seeing what you do! I've been tempted to do a life drawing class, but when it comes to it, I prefer the open studio class where i can do everything :) and yes it is heaven for those couple of hours :)

@Gina DeMarco Heyyy it's my vampire loving friend! Thank you! Do you like conté crayons? I have a love/hate relationship - they are a lot like charcoal - messy, but offers a lot of nuance. Here I used sanguine & black - sometimes I get scared to ruin it and stop instead of continuing to work on a portrait and really make a finished portrait - I should - I have several sanguines + white - could make for highlights etc. Thank you!!

@Gina DeMarco I totally get fear of color but i look at sanguine like monochrome.. just with more brown 🤣 I find it vvveerrryy hard to go back to a piece.. at all.. I'm working on that! And yep.. meh on backgrounds 😅 We can encourage each other :)
