Does my second draft make sense?
I’m maybe 75% through my second draft. The story is the same but the POV is very different. I finally managed to get someone to read it and they said it makes no sense without reading the original draft. Pretty disappointed. Happy to take the feedback of course, but I’m wondering if it’s a universal opinion or whether it’s only the opinion of one person. Could somebody read the first ten pages for me and let me know if they understand the story? Genre: gothic political romance

@Rachel Cusk I requested constructive feedback, though.

@Phlip T hiya, I’ve already shared the first couple of entries in this post
Journal to Third-Person
I've written the majority of my draft in a journal format, but the author of the journal dies in action. I would like to finish the story in third-person limited from another character's point of view, but I'm struggling with the segway between styles. Any suggestions? So far, I have a tertiary character scrawl a note at the back of the journal to give context, and the just launch into it but it still feels kind of clunky.

@L.a Fowler My only concern is that it's about 75% of the way through the book, and I don't want any more first-person or journal style writing.

@L.a Fowler Possibly. Perhaps I’ll try a few different things and ask for feedback. Thank you! X
Hello
Hello, all! Hope you're well. I'm part way writing a book (genre is gothic political fantasy romance). I've found I'm a bit stuck. I'd really appreciate someone to bounce some ideas off...

@Ann Nasir So I’ve got two versions of the same story; one is 60k words currently, written in third person. However, I got stuck so, as a writing exercise, in the hope of finding plot holes or missteps, I started rewriting a diary from the perspective of a side character. It comes to 30k. I think I prefer the diary but I’m not sure. How/when do I ask for feedback to see which version to continue? They’re both up to the same point in the plot, about 70% through. The diary is obviously half the length of the third person tale, so is it even worth continuing, given that it won’t be book-length? I don’t wanna just jam extra plot in for the sake of it. I think I’d just like some eyes on it or some suggestions

The first passage of each. They start at different points in the timeline and they follow different characters

Hello everyone! I'm Josie. I've almost finished my second draft of my first book. Dark gothic political romance but I'm at a point that kind of sticks in the mud. Always happy for feedback or idea-bouncing. I wish i had a photo of my workspace but I'm one of those chaos-gremlins who throws her laptop anywhere she fancies.
