Want a Laser Cut Brain... Walk!
Use any app you want to track your distance... I use "Map My Run". Comment below your Date and Distance [mi or km OK] and a selfie/cool nature pic. I'll build a spreadsheet to track the communities progress. Let's see how far we can walk as a community in June. If you walk over 30 Miles I'll laser cut a big brain of your choice and mail it to you. If you have a spouse sitting on the couch invite them to the challenge too... then you can win two Big Brains. Big Brain Ideas come from Big Brain Health Are you in?

@Joseph Isosaki crushing it!
Stephen York
Origin: I am a software engineer in the gaming industry. I spent the first 3 years on the gaming side, then transitioned to more tools creation and design for about half a year until I recently transitioned to working on business applications to avoid the stagnation that was happening in the tools/design. Desired Future State: Working in the VR gaming industry pushing it's bounds and living in Japan. Why: I find VR fascinating and think that there could be a lot more done with it than currently has been. I find the gaming creation aspect enjoyable and any advancements in the VR gaming will be transferable to the industry as a whole which can provide a lot of benefit for the other fields. For Japan, I like the country and want to experience what it is to live there and have the ability to easily explore the surrounding countries. Fears: Not finding opportunities to get to Japan or not within a timely manner. Not directly working in the VR industry and so not being able to successfully pivot into that field.

@Joseph Isosaki hey Joseph! Thanks so much for connecting us! Definitely always looking to connect with other Skoolers IRL! It's also my mission to help other people get their bearings in Japan, so I would love to offer some support. I actually studied CG design in college in Tokyo and have some connections in the gaming industry, including one that I know of creating a VR indie game. Haven't spoken with them in a while but I'd for sure be willing to reach out. @Stephen York feel free to reach out to me anytime! I'd love to meet once you're in the country!

@Joseph Isosaki yeah so exciting! Lots of potential with the new system! Its starting to move a bit! Finally got some things going operating for Japanese language teachers. And just started my own Skool related group this past week! Thanks for asking!

@Joseph Isosaki so actually the Japan group is just getting in new members from discovery, but I haven't posted in there since I created it maybe almost a year ago. There's 30 in the queue actually... 😅 I just don't want to teach Japanese. But I'm planning on making it a resource for tools and recommending groups of the creators I'm working with since I know they're good teachers. Now I'm focusing completely on operating for clients and helping new Skoolers as a Skool expert with my new Freemium Skool-Aid group. It's kind of an experiment, and creative, and a fun way to associate myself with Skool more. I found it as a centralized place for me to do everything that I want to do with Skool in a way that's fun and takes the pressure off. Since I'd do it whether it makes money or not.

Hey Joseph thanks for the in depth video! And glad to see you've got some good leverage you can focus on. I completely understand the want to engage more on Skool but the need to focus that time elsewhere. I was just talking with someone yesterday about how the 🔥 emoji can actually get you stuck, because people start to engage in comments more than focusing on what will help them to grow. Keep focusing on your work! I'm not going anywhere. I really appreciate this community and excited to see what you continue to do here and with your work outside of Skool too!

@Joseph Isosaki that's a great point! It definitely depends on your goals and the type of community you have. Sometimes fire can be the best action to take 🔥 And yeah definitely! I'm not able to comment and engage as much as I'd like due to other priorities. But I'm definitely here watching and listening, and hope to engage more once I get more leverage with my time. It's a good reminder that sometimes there's more engagement than what we see in the comments. I like that Skool has a reminder somewhere in the settings about discovery that some people are just natural lurkers, but they are still getting value from the community and also have value to give (even with data and feedback)

... I want you to know it's okay if it's hard for you too. I deeply care for you all and I want to give you the community you deserve, so thanks for the flexibility as I continue to build at a pace I can almost handle! Other "hards" I didn't mention lol: - Month 9 of living with the in-laws in the basement... it's definitely becoming a trigger for multiple parties. - Calls from creditors consistently (really don't like those) - Still in medical coverage limbo (do we do something subsidized by the government or wait till we land a job) - JNJ just requested I repay my master's tuition (11months post-exist) ~15k... They also threaten litigation which I wasn't super fond of - Don't feel like a 10/10 dad right now - Sore back from moving boxes and limited muscle recover from limited sleep. Okay enough complaining... Back to work lol :) Keep changing the world and let us know how we can help!

I'm sorry to hear that @Joseph Isosaki . The whole situation you've mentioned sounds very tough. But I really really respect the courage to keep going and the strong mental reserve you show by showing up and staying committed. We've exchanged only a few messages back and forth but you have been a massive encouragement to me in my life already and you understand some of the types of challenges I face because you've also experienced them. Times are quite tough for me too right now, but one thing you are reminding me is that the experience of going through uniquely tough times gives you the ability to uniquely relate to and understand another person's situation. I also feel like Skool's positivity sometimes discourages me too because the wins can make me feel incapable for not being able to get out of a tough spot. So I really respect and appreciate your courage to talk about how you are really feeling despite it being difficult. Also good call on the Japanese curry! If anything can lift my spirits, one thing is delicious food 😋
