@Joseph Isosaki That's a moot question since the sequel trilogy doesn't count as Star Wars.

I think that that applies to more than just the entrepreneur path. Any sort of significant transition or career change fits in that structure you outlined. The part that is challenging is that period of doubt, when you're not sure you're on the path. I think navigating that part is partly just continuing on with how you started, but it also serves as a good time for reflection to think deeply to see if that path is in accordance with your skills, desires, and potential opportunities. And if it doesn't fall into that, then stage of doubt is time to re-shift to find the correct path.

Going into this company I knew that it wasn't one I would want to stay with. I don't necessarily like the content that we produce. So it's always been in my mind that I would leave after a few years. More recently though I've started to want to work overseas, specifically in Japan, to experience other countries and have more life experience (I guess that's you'd call it?). So the main why is that I want to invest in my life more and I cannot do that at my current company. In terms of fears or sacrifices, there is nothing holding me back. I'm used to transitioning to new places and having to leave everything behind due to moving about every two years growing up. Only not finding the opportunities has kept me stationary. But's this will be the first time that I was the one to decide to leave and the first career change that I would make so I know there will be a lot of new things with this that I haven't experienced before. So it's been good to hear what others have gone through as they have navigated these types of changes. And I (and I'm sure others) would be grateful to hear any insights/advice!

@Joseph Isosaki Yep this will be the first time that I get to set the terms. "There's something subtle but incredibly powerful about that and I would encourage you to keep honing in on that sense of self agency" Can you explain this a bit more? I don't quite understand what you're saying here🤔

@Joseph Isosaki 1. Game Developer: I was mainly working on the backend portion of a top down shooter style game. Handled core gameplay logic and data integrity. This transfer very well to VR since it is the core of most games which in my experience will not change with VR development. 2. Tools Engineer/Game Designer: building tools for the artists or other game designers to help with their work. Helping to design the concept/gameplay of new games. This is not directly transferable to VR but game me different types of problems to solve and a deeper insight into the game creation process (outside the programming aspect). 3. Backend Engineer: building backend of business applications. Transferable to VR in that it is helping build by engineering skills.
