First look
First image from my upcoming short film “SOUNDCHECK” Instead of turning on all the ceiling lights in this basement, we just blasted a warm light at the top of the stairs… So that when the main character heads up… we see his silhouette. An even lit image would appear flat - But being intentional with lighting was key because now it feels like we are entering the main characters mind. We def had some obstacles yesterday which was day 1 of filming but we pulled through! More updates otw.

10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND GET IN WHILE YOU CAN 🔥🔥🔥
Always grab that "CLEAN PLATE"
When shooting anything with the intent to add VFX, make it a golden rule to capture a "clean plate" – a shot of your background without your subject (or you!) in it. Even if you think you won't need it for a specific effect..... TRUST ME... this empty background is invaluable. Why this matters: - Easy Compositing: Essential for rotoscoping, cleanups, and CGI. - Flexibility: Gives you an empty canvas to place new elements .... looks super clean. - Time Saver: Far easier than trying to remove elements in post. Thoughts?

This is so HUGE and often overlooked
THE POWER OF PACING
Don't let your videos maintain a single speed. Just like music, varying the pace – the speed at which information is presented and scenes unfold – can DRAMATICALLY impact audience engagement and emotional resonance. Challenge: In your next video, really experiment with alternating between faster and slower pacing. - Fast pace: Use quick cuts, rapid dialogue, and energetic music to build excitement, urgency, or create a sense of CHAOS. - Slow pace: Employ longer takes, lingering shots, and moments of silence to emphasize emotion, build suspense, or allow viewers to absorb details. Tell me what you think fam!

Need to work on this for sure. It feels more difficult to accomplish on short reels, do you think it's important for every style of video?
1 on 1 mentorship program is now available.
Picking ONLY 4 more people. Comment the word "TRANSFORM" If you're interested
