Ry, thanks for this. This is really how I started my career in IT. In my college years I did something similar. It was mid 90’s. I talked with students I met and sold them computers. I went out and got a PC distributor account, got 50% down from the students, bought the hardware, built the PC and got the 50% on delivery. Margins were 100%. I learned as I went. Friday, after 12 years since he left my company, I am meeting with an old employee who has since started his own MSP and is quite successful. He got his job with me doing the same thing. He admitted this after two years working for me. He hadn’t worked in IT prior and basically crammed for the interview. Now I am going to do the same thing to him 12 years later, but I have been cramming for 4 months, have 5 websites, countless builds, manage my own agentic hosted stack, docker servers, A CMMC coaching app a secure cross network hosted Hermes agent with Desktop Remote control. Skool comp builds etc. Your motivation to just close him on something. Then I’ll build it.
