A 3 days ago, I had an idea: What if books could talk back? What if instead of passively reading, you could have a real conversation with them—asking questions, getting insights, and applying lessons in real life? That’s how this journey started. But what followed was a rollercoaster ride of building, breaking, and learning. The Initial Vision I wanted to create an app where users could: ✅ Ask any book questions and get AI-generated answers. ✅ Get 5-minute summaries to quickly grasp key ideas. ✅ Receive actionable lessons they could apply immediately. ✅ Explore similar books based on their interests. The goal was simple: Make self-improvement books more interactive, engaging, and accessible. The Challenges & Setbacks 💡 Monetization Woes: Initially, I planned a subscription model with Stripe. But guess what? Stripe doesn’t support India. Then, I tried PayPal—same issue. I went through multiple payment providers, but none worked seamlessly. After weeks of struggle, I made a big decision: Make the app completely free. 🚀 💻 Tech Challenges: From integrating the Gemini AI model with Vercel AI SDK to handling authentication and database structuring, it was a deep dive into scaling AI applications efficiently. Managing Firestore, handling API limits, and ensuring smooth conversations took a lot of iteration. 🕒 Late Nights & Doubts: There were moments when I felt this was just another side project that wouldn’t launch. But I kept pushing because I knew this idea had potential. The Launch & What’s Next? If you remember we prompted instructions to have the agent refer the user to upgrade if they hit limits on our features. How ever gemini is suggesting that user just upgrade to expand the gemini context window. Any ideas on how to prevent this from happening Also I am assuming i can increase this some where in my gemini dashboard? can some point me in the right direction on that, is it gemini side or google cloud side? also can i control what that window is the app side? thanks for the insight fam

Its not super terrible and buttoned up pretty nicely with the disabling of chatting. However a user can still create video pages by just entering the ID on the url and procced to the video analysis page. Could this open up potential for abuse? AAANNNDD yes it has. SO If I go to the video page by URL and then inspect source and go to the button and remove the disabled feature from the page source we can easily chat with our application beyond the limits and use the other features this way as well. SOOOO What we gone do about this papafam? Lets start brainstorming a solution to this here in this thread, and of course I will report back when I find a solid solution.
