3 contributions to Get Into Recovery: Free Space
Navigating Change and Preparing for 2026
I’m off to London for a conference focused on the major changes coming to the mental health and addiction field. With digital innovation, AI, and shifting client needs reshaping the landscape, it’s vital to stay ahead and make sure recovery support keeps pace. I’m going to bring back practical insights that strengthen the work we do. Free for coffee this evening

Hedonic Adaption - Pink Fluffy Cloud
Once the pink fluffy cloud dissolves and the emotional fireworks settle, something subtle starts happening beneath the surface — and most people don’t notice it until they’re already knee-deep in confusion. What you’re really feeling isn’t failure, boredom, or “going backwards.” It’s hedonic adaptation tightening its grip across every domain of your life. And unless you understand what’s going on, you’ll misread the signs and sabotage your own progress. This topic is certainly worth a discussion, new session here….https://www.skool.com/get-into-recovery-free-space-6453/classroom/8ae036ac

@Mark Langford have a look at the new session and let me know your thoughts
Personal Intro and Motivation
I've spent my entire career in finance. My drinking spiralled out of control in the 80s and 90s, culminating in debilitating panic attacks, two referrals to an alcohol treatment unit, and extensive therapy. I've been sober since August 1999. The fundamental lesson I learned is that "you can't do it on your own". In recent years I've been offering clinic-based support as a peer mentor. I value community and fellowship.
