Mulching Rocky terrain
What are guys doing about mulching rocky terrain? What teeth are you using? Are you just billing the replacement of teeth into that specific job?

@Mike Friesen I seem to have nothing but rocky terrain. I use exclusively carbide teeth because they're more durable. But I still break them a fair bit. If it's super rocky I try not to grind into the ground a lot and I'm upfront with the customer about that as well. They've been pretty understanding if I explain that to them. Yes, I built replacement teeth into my crew day rate. I figure on a really rocky job I'd loose 2-4 per day.
CRM Choices
I'm new to the site. I've been doing jobs and buying equipment. I haven't selected a CRM yet for this business, but I'm looking at Jobber and Horizon 360 by Toro. Does anyone have thoughts either way?

@Neil James I also run Jobber. I switched from another CRM to Jobber because it runs a lot better and so many other programs integrate with it, like Zapier. I have the Connect plan but also added on the pipeline feature and a couple other features as well. I'm pretty impressed with it so far.
Growth Opportunity
Something I had learned from was not planning well enough or educating myself enough, and I pride myself in researching and running the pros/cons . Case in point. I have a bobcat t86 and mulching head that weigh about 16k lbs total. Pair that with my bumper pull trailer we are over 20k lbs total. I thought the hard part was to find a trailer that could pull this without doing the gooseneck (I just didn't want to mess with a gooseneck and wants the bed space and found bumper pulls to be a better priced) Here is the lesson I learned was that Class V hitched only go up to 18,500lbs. I failed to realize finding something that can pull 21k lbs was difficult and limited. The only flabed manurfacture that offers this capability is CM which has a 24k hitch. So now I am having to install a new flatbed on my truck a $6,300 learning experience. So anyone wanted to do a bumper pull trailer with a heavier machine take note!

@Trent Barga Yeah, equipment weighs more than you expect!

@Trent Barga Yeah, they are a pain. I prefer gooseneck trailers over bumper pull for almost everything, especially equipment.

I've got a few jobs lined up, advertised before getting equipment, I have equipment and a way to get the machinery there. The only thing that is getting to me is what permits do I need, if any? Are there any limitations to what I do if I'm above a certain acreage?

@Ben Coval Good question. So far I haven't found any need for them, other than state and town business licenses. But every part of the country is different. Can you find any info on the local state/county websites? I know going through those can be as clear as mud sometimes...

I'm grateful to be part of this community. I already have an old skid steer, and I have experience operating heavy machinery. I hope to learn a lot from you all. Thank you.
