Colour Chart Update
Here are the first three charts in which colours are blended ( if you are not sure what I mean, see my previous post ). These charts include cad yellow light/cad yellow medium, cad red light/cad red medium and yellow ochre/cad orange. Note that the oil paints I used are Gamblin 1980; if you try this exercise with another brand of paint , your results may not match mine. Also I tried to follow the description given by Michael Lynn Adams to "avoid mixing equal amounts of each colour, but enough colour of the first signature colour to predominate while allowing the other colour's character to be recognized." If you try this exercise the number of charts you will require depends on how many colours are in your palette. The way I have set up my charts leaves me 4 more charts to complete. https://michaellynnadams.com/color-chart-exercise/

@Sarah Lankry Thanks!
COLOUR CHART
I've tried making colour charts in the past but I think I hurried the process. So, I'm starting over. I'm going to make a change from the usual way charts are done by including two "palettes". Palette 1: a lighter palette, Cad Yellow Light, Cad Red Light, Yellow Ochre, Sap Green, Alizarin Crimson, Burnt Sienna, Cerulean Blue Palette 2: a darker palette, Cad Yellow Med, Cad Red Medium, Cad Orange, Veridian, Burnt Umber, Van Dyke Brown, Ultramarine Blue I am going to include both palettes of 7 colours on a single panel, light on the top half and dark on the lower. The first panel includes all the colours, each in five shades with no mixing yet between the various colours. The mixing will occur on the panels that follow. Here is the first panel. Completing the whole project will take some time but I'll try to post progress as charts get finished.

Each row should have, or be close to, the same value; there is a 'formula' that gives each colour on a row the same amount of white, but really the colour can depend on the staining power of the colour to which the white is added. Best explanation of process I found is: https://michaellynnadams.com/color-chart-exercise/ Also, I use Gamblin 1980 oils, a student oil paint, because it's what I can afford. Other brands could work differently in how they blend

Who Wants Their Painting Critiqued?
Hey Artists Who wants their painting critiqued? I'm opening up my calendar for some quick 10-15-minute critiques on Zoom. Bring ONE painting, and I'll walk you through: - Three specific fixes that'll make the most significant impact - A simple 7-day plan to level up your next piece No fluff, just practical feedback you can actually use. I've only got a handful of spots available, so if you want one, comment "YES" below, and I'll send you the booking link. First-come, first-served. Happy painting. Sam

Yes. I've been away and unable to log on to PH. Is critique still possible?
