Hello! One of the "Good Guys".
Hello Everyone! My name is John. I am from Lago Vista, TX, which is about 45 minutes from Austin, Texas. I am planning on making $10,000 a month or more as a dispatcher. I am a medically retired driver who never ever thought he would join the OTHER side of the trucking business. One of my BIG goals with this is to become one of the good guys, the good dispatchers that strive hard to never just leave drivers hanging out there. I can remember times I even yelled and argued with dispatchers. I want to be one of the GOOD dispatchers on the driver's side, helping drivers out there working hard! I am making this my mission to make this work for all of them because I know what it's like. My job, My MISSION, will be to take care of drivers! I know what its like to be in another state and thinking, "Oh they are having it so easy sitting in their cushy office while we are out here busting our tail!". "They are commanding from their cushy offices.". All the while I was going through it the same as other drivers out there on the roads. Now I get to finally see the other side of the coin for a change. I started out as a flatbed driver. I want to get these 3 things from this course/community: 1.  Learn and apply ways of getting carriers 2.  Learn how to book loads and negotiate with brokers 3. Learn how to build my dispatching service For fun I like to do these 3 things: 1.  Spend time with family 2. Cinema and Movies 3. Write "Aspiring Author."

@Meeghan McKenzie I haven't fully "pulled the trigger" on this as of yet. My wife and I are considdering together other opportunities among this one. She would rather I do something other than anything related to transportation, but hey this is where a lot of my tallent lies. So I am in negotiations right now.
A question regarding training.
I feel VERY blessed to have found this training. Do you recommend that I, being brand new to dispatching, take it slow, maybe 1 lesson per day, or is it ok to go maybe a bit faster or even "plow through" the training? I usually like to take my time as I learn by actually doing and putting my hands to something, but other folks may learn differently than I do. So, what do you all think?

@Rudwan Kwaki Thank you! What you said makes sense. I remember the company dispatcher being one of THE most important parts of what any company did. So I take it very seriously. Example, one company I drove for, you had a days route and before the route and vehicle inspections, you had to arrive at the dispatch window and receive your manifest for the day. Sometimes there would be like 50 drivers staring at that dispatcher through the window and I always wondered if the felt that sort of pressure to perform when everyone was staring at them looking for their days work, "manifests". These folks were good at what they did. I hope I can live up to their example. The company was MV Transportation in Austin, Texas back many years ago in 2012. Have you had any interactions with dispatchers in the past?

That all soun ds great except, I was always a company driver or a contracted 1099 driver. I never became an owner/operator which I wanted to but it was just too expensive. Plus now days, the road has become a lot worse in terms of what goes on out there for us drivers. For example, this just happened a few weeks ago where I am from near Austin, TX. A foreign driver along I35 in Austin killed 5 people and injured 20 plus more. a FOREIGN driver and I have seen other reports across the nation, foreign drivers unable to read english are killing people on the roads simply because they do not understand our way here in the United States. It is costing people their LIVES! The foreign guy, when he wrecked and that wreck caused 5 deaths, he was still trying to operate like normal! I was like; Man are you friggin kidding me with that right now!
Money and Cost?
I was just into lesson 2 of the free mini course and I noticed that the homework moves me more towards spending funds which I understand this is a business for profit. What I want to know is if I can do this course without signing up for the trials and see all of it myself first before I kae spending decisions?

Hello, I just started myself with my lovely wife also watching. I am a medically retired driver who is switching to the dispatching side of trucking. So far so good I suppose.
Market Crash?
Seems like from Thursday of Last week to So far this morning the Market has been down. My trucks are averaging $3 a mile most weeks. Right now can’t find anything for more than 2.70 (Coming out of VA and TX) Has anyone figured a way to get around this? I get worried about Loosing drivers when this happens.

I am watching news and information carefully and wondered what was the absolute latest news you have heard. So far what I am getting is general stuff like the slow ports of entry like the Port of Los Angelous being VERY slow if not at a crawl right now. One report I got said the Port in Shaing Hi China was at almost a stand still with ships having been turned back around that were bound for the United States. Up in Washington State for example that major port has slowed WAY down and some say most freight has ceased moving. The less frieght moving means less work and the supply chain suffering massively! Maybe this explains a bit of why the downward trend in how much you are able to make per load.
