How is Freight in the winter? I am just wanting to be Ready for it as my first year. Do drivers take time off? Does freight pay More/less?

Seems like from Thursday of Last week to So far this morning the Market has been down. My trucks are averaging $3 a mile most weeks. Right now can’t find anything for more than 2.70 (Coming out of VA and TX) Has anyone figured a way to get around this? I get worried about Loosing drivers when this happens.

I am working on Pre-Booking trips 1-2 days in advance and have a question. If a driver is scheduled to drop off at 10am, and I book another load for a 1pm Pickup, and say it takes him until 2pm to get to the 2nd Load. Would the driver be Penalized at all for this, or is this common? Just want to make sure so I am not booking the 2nd load to close to the 1st one. Any help is appreciated, Thank you!

Would this be a smart Idea… Run with a carrier for a few weeks or 30days, and then give them the option to add a 14-21 day Termination clause? (Sort of like a 2week notice) Clause would just state that My self or them have to give a 14 Day notice before ending our services together. I would pitch it that it helps both of us so they aren’t Just stuck somewhere If I terminate with them and I have time to replace them if they Decide to give the Notice. Is this a good Idea? Has anyone done this before? It is a long question, If anyone has done this before and has tips If jumping on a phone call is easier for you I would appreciate it very much. Thank you!

When dealing with Factoring Info…. What do I send to my carriers factoring company? And does it have to be after the Load is delivered with a Signed BOL? Thank you guys for your help
