When things go quiet, it is easy to decide the industry has stopped. It has not. UK film production spending reached £1 billion in the first half of this year, local UK films are up 20 percent, and more films went into production than last year. (Screen Daily) The work has not gone. It has shifted. And the smaller roles, the day players, the emergency replacements, often get cast late, sometimes during the shoot itself. Which means the actor who is ready and easy to find has the edge. So here is today's one thing. Open your own profile. Give it thirty seconds, the way a casting director would. They are useful, enjoyable and designed to make everyday tasks a little easier. They are not, however, The Actors Copilot subscription app. The main app is the complete platform that Claire and I have spent the past 10 months developing with our team in Brazil. That is where the deeper, personalised work happens, including preparation and character exploration built around you. We will demo The Actors Copilot Support App 'Live' in the next month or so, for those interested in how non-generic AI can really support your craft. You will find all five tools in the Classroom, inside the page called Actor Resource Apps. Choose the ones you would like, open each one and follow the simple instructions to add it to your device. It only takes a few seconds. Check back each month, as we will continue adding new tools and if there is a tool you would love to have, or something that could make your working life as an actor easier, leave your suggestion below. We would love to start running some live sessions here, but first we want to know if you are interested, and what you would actually want them to cover. We are Tracey and Claire. Between us we have spent a lot of years on both sides of the camera, made plenty of mistakes, rebuilt more than once, and come back to this work with a lot more truth than we started with. We built this room because we know how alone this industry can make you feel, and we do not want that for you. We will most likely kick off by welcoming our new members and getting to know each other properly, and then let the sessions grow from what you tell us you need. So tell us two things in the comments. First, what would actually help you right now. Maybe it is around motivation, the panic when a tape lands, trusting your choices, rebuilding confidence, working out what casting is really looking for, or how a set actually works when you are new to it, on as a day player or a five day player, and there is a lot to take in.
