Compression for snare drums
Which compressor brings out the best in ghost notes? I would like to hear the ghost notes clearer without automating the gain on them between every hit. I wanna focus solely on the ghost notes. I'm using a CLA 76. But Its brining the snare up too much at 4:1 ratio in the mix. Anything doesn't work or crushes the snare transients too much for my Pop Rock style mix.

@Gary Shore Great idea..... I've never used upward compression before. This helped a lot.

What’s one piece of gear you regret buying?
I’ll start. I bought a MXL mic and tried to mod it. I spent more time trying to make the perfect mic instead of just taking that time learning how to perform better takes and get better takes from the artists I work with. I ended up giving it away to a friend who started producing his music. So not a total waste. Hahaha

OMG dude I got plugins that I hated that I wasted money on. One in particular is the CLA Nx room by Waves. I got excited and bout it thinking that it would improve my mixes and I quickly grew out of it. Never use it and quite honestly I'd sell and transfer the licensee for $10 if I could.

Need help balancing your room, try this(ARC 4)
Found something really cool. This tool has helped me balance out my little bedroom studio. I use M-audio monitors and I thought I had a pretty good ear for how my my translated bc I knew my gear. @David Brancato I'll take a some time with it later. I'm sure it's an amazing tool. But right now, I still need to finish using my ARC. I have to finish setting up at my church booth for post processing live streaming audio and one my laptop when I travel.

How do I fix this
I have this open and unused space in log when I move my mix screen over to my extended monitor. When I expand Logic, the screen expands. But the tracks stay the same size. I want to be able to use all of my real estate here. any idea on how to resolve this?

@Kat V. yeah I've almost messed up my entire monitor playing around with the screen resolution. This sucks bc I could surely use that extra space.

Need a NEW COMPRESSOR/LIMITER or STRIP(IDEAS)
Looking for a budget friendly Compressor/Limiter. Just need to make some upgrades. I see some on Sweetwater but I'd rather hear from you guys with real reviews. I'm open to all ideas. Can I afford an UA-2A? YEAH. But I also gotta take care of a family lol. I'll bite the bullet if I just necessarily have to, but it's not my 1sr, 2nd or 3rd choice. I've had my sapphire Pro 40 and Focusrite 18I8 since 2014 and they are both going in and out from time to time. So I think the hardware is telling me that it's tired and ready to go home to the hardware Gods. Right now I'm running my vocal mics through: 1. Behringer MULTICOM PRO-XL 2. Focusrite Saffire Pro Interface My main goal is never to fully compress any signal coming in. I simply like to take a little off the top in to control any harsh spikes from screamers. Any suggestions?
