I’ve been thinking about a different way to use the Tool. Instead of me telling you what goal to work on, or you trying to decide what goal you should choose, let the next wave choose it. A wave is a challenge, setback, frustration, problem, or something that doesn’t go the way you wanted. The next time a small wave hits you, don’t just see it as something you need to get through. Make overcoming that wave your goal. Then use the Tool on it. There is a reason I like this idea. If you choose the goal yourself, you may automatically choose something you have struggled with or failed at before. That brings all those old emotions with it. If I choose the goal for you, it may not mean anything to you. But if the wave chooses the goal, neither of us decided. Maybe the universe decided for us. It might sound a little crazy. But after 90 years, I’ve learned that sometimes the waves we don’t ask for are the ones that teach us the most. So here is your challenge: Let your next small wave choose your goal. Then use the Tool and tell us what happens.
