@Kevin Hall What do you like about it? I love Da Nang. It's great being by the sea, I love the community vibe even though it's a big city, and how there is a wonderful mix of tourists, expats and nomads, as well as locals here. So far it's my favourite place in SE Asia.

@Kevin Hall I've been to Thailand, Bali and Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur). So far I love Danang the most, although I really enjoyed Bali as well. This year we're also taking it a little slower, staying mostly in Danang. It's easier to focus on work and have a bit of a healthier routine than travelling around lots.
What changed my life the most
This post is going to sound a little cliché and on the nose, but it's the truth, so I wanted to share it because it might just help you if you're in a similar position as I was. 2 years ago I nearly took my own life. I had been walking down the wrong path for a long time and hadn't even realised it until I wound up in a deep pit that I didn't know how to get out of. I was so unhappy in the life that I had built. I was working a physical job in London 12 hours a day (it was my own business but it didn't feel like it). I had just ended an 8 year relationship because I blamed my partner for where I was in life, only to realise that my partner had been the only one keeping me afloat, and now that she was gone, I started to sink rapidly. I also managed to gamble away (day trading) 95% of my net worth, after watching it skyrocket to more than I'd ever had in my life. I was left lonely, lost, broke and so full of shame and regret at the mess I'd made of my life, that the feelings of depression I thought I'd finally outrun, came back with a vengeance to try and finish the job. The one thing that saved me, and that helped completely turn my life around to the point I'm in right now, 2 years later living full time as a digital nomad and working online helping people in a way that excites and motivates me, and with the partner of my dreams (that's a story for another post), was gratitude. (I know, so cliché. I hear your groans😅). Gratitude, self acceptance and love, which all come from escaping the ego. That part of us that tries to keep us safe but inevitably keeps us small. When I started to practice gratitude for the things I had in my life (it was hard at first. I didn't think I had much to be grateful for), then the funniest thing started happening. More good things started to show up in my life. It's easy to be grateful when you're a digital nomad. There are amazing things happening every day, kind people welcoming you into their homes and communities, incredible landscapes to discover, delicious food to try, and breath taking views to witness.

@Bianca Vogelaar The view at Furama resort is pretty amazing, and you're so right. It's very easy to no longer appreciate even amazing views when you see them all the time. Seeing gratitude as a tool for more abundance in life has made it much easier for me to make it a daily practice. I think we're here on this earth to experience everything we can, and the only way we can do that properly is to really pay attention to, and appreciate where we are and what we have.
How to make better choices
How often do you struggle to do the things you know you need to? How often to you keep choosing short term comfort over your long term goals? Do you get stuck in making decisions based on past fears, present stress, and apathy? You want to build a better business and life, and yet you often end up choosing the easy or convenient option that doesn't align with that aim? I think this is a common problem that most of us face at one point in our life or another. But how do we change it? A simple framework that I use (because who has time for complexity), is what I call the Future State Decision Matrix. If the current you is making the wrong decisions based on past fears, then you need to step out of that version and into a version of you that is wiser, has achieved the goals you want to achieve, and who knows what steps to take to get there. This might sound strange. How can we step into our future self? The thing is you're already doing this, just based on the past where many of your mistakes are, instead of the future where your goals and aspirations exist. Once you realise this, it becomes easier to imagine this process. If you already decide based on things that no longer exist, then why not start deciding based on things that don't YET exist, but through your decisions are brought into existence? If you want to try this process out, just download the pdf. You can fill it out on your computer or phone. The point here is to practice this to the point where you can do it intuitively in your head every time you need to make an important decision you're avoiding. But start with the pdf framework for clarity. I'd also love to hear if you find it useful, and what your current biggest struggles are with your creating income from anywhere in the world? Thank you to @Bianca Vogelaar for creating such a cool space where we can all support each other to create more freedom and income in our lives.

@Aileen Von Wietersheim I'm so glad you found it helpful. The challenge you describe is something that so many business owners face, and it's for that very reason that we need tools and strategies that focus specifically on mindset. Let us know how using this framework goes for you. I'd love to hear your experience. A good question to ask yourself about the uncomfortable actions you're struggling to stay consistent with, is what part of you finds this action uncomfortable and why? You can then negotiate with that part and find ways of addressing its concerns, as there is usually a fear that sits underneath the discomfort. Figure out what that is and what you need so that it no longer feels scary, and you'll find yourself naturally taking those actions without discomfort and avoidance.

@Aileen Von Wietersheim I know that feeling of dragging your feet, knowing you're avoiding something and knowing you'll pay the price later on, but still avoiding it nonetheless. That weight you carry simply as a result of avoiding something, must slow you down and make other tasks harder as well, no? Getting into the mindset of the person who has just finished your taxes and feeling the emotion of having completed them, the relieve that comes with that, might help you to get started. Another little tip that works great for me when I'm avoiding things, is to negotiating with yourself about how much you'll start with. Often a task appears far too much in our mind so we avoid starting. But if you say to yourself that today you don't have to finish your taxes (or whatever it is that you're avoiding), and instead say that the only thing you have to do today is open up your accounting software and just take a look at what needs to be done, then you might find yourself avoiding things less. You have to be clear with yourself though, that all that you are asking of yourself in this moment is to look at the taxes, not to complete them. And you can then give yourself a little reward for taking that step.
Hello

Welcome @Ash Kp. It's great to have you here. When I made the decision 2 years ago to become a digital nomad, I didn't know how to make it happen, but I made a clear decision to make it happen no matter what. It sounds like you're getting close to making that decision yourself. Most people try and figure out if something is possible before they make a decision to do something, but that is why most people never change. Instead, make the decision knowing that the path forward is unclear and you'll figure it out as you go along, but make the decision first!
Mindset check-in
I have a bunch of issues: overwhelm, self doubt, imposter syndrome, procrastination…..I recently heard that these are all symptoms of stress. So now my biggest goal is to become a relaxed woman 😎

Hi @Anna Riorden I would offer a slightly different perspective on the challenges you're currently facing (or were facing at the time of this post. Have things improved?). I would argue that all those "issues," overwhelm, self doubt, imposter syndrome, procrastination AND stress, are all symptoms of the belief that you are not enough as you are. What would change for you if you truly believed you are enough? What if you felt that no matter what happens, no matter how challenging life is, that you are and will continue to be ok? When you get to that point, and realise that the symptoms you describe are the result of the fear the ego feels, then you become free. Because you are not your ego, and you do not have to live with that fear. You are enough as you. You have overcome every single challenge you've faced up until this point evidenced by the very fact that you are still here. Recognise your own significance and let go of the fear🙏
