Finding the right balance with all the “you should” advice isn’t easy. Young athletes—myself included—are constantly hearing we should lift three times a week, add plyometrics, work on tumbling and stunting, and keep up with cardio. But it’s often thrown at us without a clear, structured plan or any real way to measure progress—or even know if we’re improving at all. So what should a three-day lifting program actually look like? How do you add plyometric training without overdoing it? How do you balance that with tumbling so you’re not working on tired legs after heavy squat days? And when in the season should lifting shift from building strength to focusing more on maintenance and injury prevention? Then on top of everything else—don’t forget stretching and core work. At times, it’s just exhausting trying to figure out what to do each day, while also feeling like you’re still not doing enough.
