If you’re a fan of Xerjoff’s 40 Knots, this fragrance is definitely for you. I first smelled 40 Knots at The Scent Masters with the other Xerjoff fragrances Roger had to offer. Although I did find it to be reminiscent of the sea: salty, sea water, woody, I passed on it for a couple of other Xerjoff fragrances I liked better. Now today I’m wearing Bowline from Barrett and the minute I put it on this morning it reminded me of 40 Knots- which is its inspiration. I find myself liking this a lot and hope it has some decent longevity.

Late post today. Wearing Art Museum from the House of RDZ. Created to celebrate the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the fragrance hits the mark. It’s a combination of palo santo, papyrus, sandalwood, patchouli, leather, saffron and Oud. The fragrance is captivating from the first whiffs and stays with its wearer all day. I can imagine the essence of the masterpieces within the PMA and the artistry of creating this scent. At $160 for 100ml bottle it’s competitively priced for a fragrance this special. As a member of the PMA I get this connection, but anyone can enjoy this.

Someone at the studio knows I’m into fragrances and gifted this to me. He claims it’s a unisex fragrance that his wife bought for them to share but neither of them really like it. It’s Saffron Cologne Intense by Jo Malone. Not sure if it’s been discontinued or not. Anyway, I looked up it’s DNA: Top: pink pepper, incense, bergamot Middle: saffron, sandalwood, iris Base: guaiac wood, amber, white musk I just received this in the last hour so I haven’t had a chance to wear it yet, so I’d appreciate any feedback from anyone familiar with this fragrance thanks!

Meeting friends for dinner tonight, so I’m going with one of my favorites, Tom Ford Noir Extreme. Just to refresh its composition: Top: cardamom, nutmeg, saffron Heart: Kalfi Accord, orange blossom, rose Base: Amber, vanilla, sandalwood I love this fragrance. It is masculine with an air of luxury and sophistication that is very hard to beat. Always a top five choice for me.

Wearing another sample from Barrett, Enchoku, inspired by Tom Ford’s Plum Japonais another fragrance I’m unfamiliar with. Here’s the breakdown: Top: plum, cinnamon Heart Heart: saffron, camellia Base: Oud, amber Interesting scent that I find to be rich, spicy and not too fruity. The jury is still out with me on this one, because I think it’s an acquired taste. Anyone familiar with either of these two fragrances?
