Hey Qathet dog lovers! 💛 How about we get together in real life for a chill, friendly stroll? 🌿 ✨ Not a formal trainer-led walk ✨ Not a free-for-all chaos 😇 Just a casual, easy-going wander where humans can chat, and dogs can be near each other – only meeting if everyone (human & dog) is cool with it. 🐕 Bring your pup, bring your smile, and let’s enjoy some fresh air together! WHEN? WHERE? Drop your ideas below 👇 and let’s make it happen! Can’t wait to meet some new friends – two-legged and four-legged! 🐶💬 @Alia Bickson @Alison Dasovic @Amy Remark @Brenda Clarke @Claire Wallace @Curtis Vollmin @Danny McKenzie @Dawn Myers @Debbie Angel @Gillian Turner @Nancy Hamilton @Jennifer Antonchuk @Jody Jankola @Kaitlyn Lawson @Kennedy Niles @Kristin Street @Laurie Skinner @Lori Mason @Melysah Kung @Patti Mc @Ashley Porter @Reba Miller @Sabrina Mendoza @Sabrina Upton @Steph Adams @Tracey Smart @Anne Michaels

@Maren Bruun oh, I missed the one that was announced!?! When where?

@Maren Bruun yes I did, but we couldn’t go because Tilly is terrified of street walks… Sad but true… this is a winter project of mine, when the traffic is less, etc.… Maybe next time!❤️

oh… Here it is…
🌅🌲 Powell River / qathet Area Locals Thread! 🐾
Hey everyone! I know there are quite a few of us here living in the Powell River / qathet area, so I thought it’d be great to have our own little corner to connect. Whether you're new to the area or have been here for years, this is a space to say hi, get to know one another, and maybe even plan some meetups—dog walks, hikes, paddles, coffee chats, you name it! If you haven’t already introduced yourself in the main intro thread, feel free to do that here instead—just let us know a bit about you and your dog(s)! And from there, let’s chat about local trails, training ideas, favourite spots, and maybe even find some great trail buddies or walking groups 🐕🌿 Looking forward to meeting more of you fellow locals!

Tilly and I went for a walk on the seawall on a wet and windy day and there wasn’t too many people around and that went well.

What's a Book That Changed Your Life with Your Dog? 📖🐾
I wanted to share a few dog book titles with you. 📚 I’ve read out a few in the video attached, but the ONE book that has really stood the test of time since it was written in 2002 is: 🦴Bones Would Rain from the Sky – Deepening Our Relationships with Dogs ❤️ by Suzanne Clothier Interesting tidbit: I’ve attended a few workshops and seminars with Suzanne over the decades, and her teachings still stick with me today. Her ideas about connection, trust, and understanding with our dogs have shaped how I approach training and life with them. 📚What about you? ➡️ Share a book that’s made a difference in your life with your dog, and a quick 1-line takeaway. Let’s trade ideas and inspire each other—your next favourite read might be just a comment away! 🐶💚

@Maren Bruun wow they were super cute, especially together as pictured above! ❤️
WHO’S TRAINING WHO? 🐶😏
They say there’s no good or bad… it’s thinking that makes it so. Well, here’s what I have been “trained” to do: 🍕 Deliver pizza crusts on command (a.k.a. the stare) 👀 Leap from my chair to check out mysterious “intruders” (aka… leaves blowing) 🪑 Vacate my desk seat because apparently I’ve been sitting long enough (guilt stare) 🥏 Throw the stick… again… and again… and again… (send help) Let’s be honest — dogs have us wrapped around their paw. We train them, they train us… it’s a partnership with snacks. So… what’s ONE thing your dog has successfully trained YOU to do? Make me feel better and share it below. ⬇️

@Maren Bruun I actually have to drive to the trailhead because she’s very freaked out about all the traffic on the road. Been walking her only on leash since she did her 36 hour run away… Unless she’s with one of her dog friends in which case she stays with us off leash. She has been super anxious with all of the extra people out in the woods, etc.… I just try and find quiet places… Probably would be good to climatic her again to more people around, but I don’t wanna push it on her right now… Also going early in the morning before the heat is good…❤️
