Lesson progress - natural minor scales
Kāʻili taught me a new picking technique and some natural minor scales. I always feel like I'm amazing at ukulele but whenever I watch a video of myself all I see is a wannabe. 😅 I've actually practised but I'll keep practising. Feel free to give comment/ critique.

You’re moving up and down that fretboard with ease @Miri L ! Looking good! 👍🏻
Videos of good players with short fingers?
Hi! I was wondering if anyone's come across videos of small handed players? I only know of Feng Yi's old videos and uke3452. Thanks in advance. --small person

@Kāʻili Wells Jr. nice! It’s been almost 10 years since I last visited HI. Been to the Big Island and Kauai. Next trip I’d like to spend more time on Oahu, and visit Hawaii Music Supply in Haleiwa. Maybe Kalei or Corey will be working. 😊

@Kāʻili Wells Jr. cool! I just love everything about that establishment, and the work Andrew Kitakis has done growing it into what it is today. Huge props!
🎥 Fun Friday: Video Challenge (Pick One)
Fun Friday challenge time 🤙 Pick ONE: 1. Comment a video of YOU playing a song (doesn’t have to be perfect) 2. Comment a video of a song you like/want to play (YouTube links are perfect) That’s it!

@Kāʻili Wells Jr. thanks! I find tempo to be the biggest roadblock with this style of playing. It’s easy to lose it without a metronome. Yes! I’ve dabbled a bit with 5 string open back banjo, but didn’t enjoy the instrument’s heft for lengthy practice. Plus the long neck just didn’t agree with my shoulder. I did own a banjolele for a couple years as well, but ended up trading it for another uke. 😊

@Kāʻili Wells Jr. I learned clawhammer very early into my playing, so at least 12 years or so. The style inspired me immediately after hearing Cathy Fink and Aaron Keim play it. I attended a couple of their online workshops, and was off to the races.

@Kāʻili Wells Jr. @jiggywithviggy got her start on tic tock during the pandemic, and now has a large following both there and on instagram. You’ll also find her playing and teaching at quite a few ukulele festivals in the states. 👍🏻

@Kāʻili Wells Jr. yep! But you can cover ground much faster on skis than walking. 😀

@Kāʻili Wells Jr. 8 yrs! I got a late start in my mid 30’s. Met my husband on the race circuit, and we both decided to hang it up at the same time. It’s a risky sport at top level; lots of crashes and subsequent road rash. I now skate for fun and fitness. Much less stress!
