Enjoy!
Sorry for rectifying a few misspells: tomato is TOMATE; Onion is spelled OIGNON; the informal term for potato is PATATE; beef is BOEUF; broccoli is spelled the same way in French (double C); mustard is MOUTARDE; the French for lawyer is AVOCAT (same as for avocado); cherry is CERISE. And if you want to pay attention to written accents, then it should be CRÈME, CAFÉ and THÉ. Hope this helps. Thanks for your input!
Quebec folklore song translated
“Quebecois” french is not considered formal Just as the English consider American english sloppy Quebecois was considered “Farmer’s french” But the vibes of this song are the same in the 1050-60s Accordions are common in my region still! https://youtu.be/lO3u0HFDVoM?si=FiYwxYn2OmCDURyQ
I suppose it also depends on a person’s level of education. Yet it is true that the very slangy type of Québécois - known as “joual” - is very hard for us French people to understand. I would need subtitles if I were to watch a Quebecois film or series that included joual. But someone speaking “proper” or academic French is as easy to understand in Montreal as in Paris.
