Yep, I changed my mind — I’m joining after all! 😉 Was it the prize money, boredom, or a little madness? Maybe a bit of all three… Introducing PhoenixWire: a simple way to send NIM, USDC and USDT by email as protected payment cards. From an email feature to a standalone app PhoenixWire grew out of PhoenixMail, my email client. After integrating Nimiq Cashlinks into emails, I wanted to push the idea further: what if having the payment link wasn’t enough to claim the money? That became PhoenixWire. Each card is protected by a verification code sent to the recipient’s email address. The recipient opens the card, verifies their email and chooses where to receive the funds. What can it do? • Send and receive NIM directly through Nimiq Pay or Nimiq Wallet. • Send USDC on Polygon and USDT on Polygon or Ethereum. • Include a personal message on a payment card. • Use the app in English, French, Spanish, German or Chinese. For USDC and USDT, the relay handles the recipient’s network fees, so they don’t need a separate gas token to claim their card. Relay fees apply when sending. Cards are valid for 24 hours. Unclaimed NIM returns automatically to the sender. For USDC and USDT, the sender opens PhoenixWire to recover the funds; the relay retains its fees. Why build it? I want sending someone their first NIM to feel as familiar as sending them an email. A small payment can give someone a reason to discover Nimiq, try a wallet and explore crypto for themselves.
