Need help on multiple languages support
Hi everyone — I’m looking for advice on how to support multiple languages (at least English, Cantonese, and Mandarin) in a voice agent. I’m currently building a healthcare voice agent demo and I’ve been testing it with Vapi, but the Cantonese (zh-HK) speaking quality is still very poor. I’ve tried several different LLMs and configurations, but I’m not getting good results. Since both Cantonese and Mandarin are chinese language, so the Voice Agent always mess them up. What confuses me is that I’ve tested other online demos, and their Cantonese voice agents sound very natural and fluent, so I believe this should be achievable — I just haven’t found the right approach yet. If anyone has recommendations on: - the best TTS / voice model for Cantonese - the best setup / pipeline for multi-language voice agents I’d really appreciate your guidance. Thanks in advance!

try using retell ai they support cantonese transcriber! For voice model, choose eleven labs multilingual by clicking on gear icon in retell interface! Test it and see how it is!

@Hon Kwok Unfortunately, Multilingual transcriber in retel doesn't support cantonese and mandarian, for your usecase, you can use agent transfer tool and use english as the main agent and based on what the user wants to speak, it could transfer it to the right agent!

Welcome!
Vapi or retell?
Hi so I’ve built my first ai voice agent using vapi with integrations using make to send notifications through yahoo mail and WhatsApp. I’ve see mention of using retell instead of vapi. What is the consensus here? Is one better / easier than the other? If its use case dependent what are the scenarios when one is preferred over the other? Cheers

It depends on your use case, you could try both and pick one but i use both of them for my projects! Retell ai is a bit better from my perspective and it's also beginner friendly, vapi is a little bit flexible as you can change the transcriber models, voice models etc
Just starting out.
Hi everyone, really enjoyed the webinar earlier. After 25 years working in Ops and IT, I was made redundant just prior to xmas, so in addition to the job search I've been exploring starting my own consultancy to help SME's with AI and automation. I really like the Voice AI agents that Brendan has shared in his videos and have now built my own working prototype in VAPI, with a twilio number and used Make to generate email and whatsapp summaries and calendar bookings. Now at the next step of looking for actual clients to start monetising for real.

@Kevin Deadman That's awesome! Local businesses and warm leads are the best and easiest way to get clients! Good Luck!
