2. Introduce Yourself Here
Hey team, Welcome to the Strong Runner Coaching Program! Please read the START HERE post. Would be great to get to know you, let us know: 1. What is your 2026 running goal 2. Why do you run? Heres mine: 1. To run Tarawera 50k on February 14th 2. I run to take opportunities my fitness and health gives me. I run to reach new levels and limits. I run to empower others to do the same.

My 2026 Goal is to run a PB at Kerikeri Half - which Iv done about 6 times but slow AF! Its going to be a bit of work as my parkrun this year is currently 6 mins more than my best ever parkrun. Iv been focusing on strength for the last 2 years so now I'm trying to trim things down and speed up. Why do I run - who bloody knows, I don't 'like' running but I like being active, I seem to work best if there is a goal or future event focus. I want to be strong, active into my older years, be able to get off the ground when I fall over and have good bone health so I don't break a hip and die. 🤣

Hi Guys - I a run/walker - aiming for the Kerikeri Half Marathon in November (34 weeks to go lol) I'm wanting to set a goal time but wont set that until we are a few months out. At the moment its about increasing the running time and decreasing the walking breaks. You may see me at Parkrun or in a Thursday at Genos 9am run walk. Hit me up if you want to join the Jeffing group. We run 30 seconds walk 30 seconds, then the faster runners come back to the slowest person so we all stay together - no one left behind. This may change over time but even if you can run for longer you can use this as sprint training. Looking forward to meeting some of you. I also run a Facebook group called 'Slow AF Running Group New Zealand' if you want to join in.
Week 8
Hey team! We are so close to the Beach 2 Basin - haven't the weeks just flown by? This is a big week, some 10k-specific workouts and race prep. Homework questions: What has been your big win this training block? What are you nervous about for race day? Let us know how you are tracking team :)

Iv noticed my strength dropping a bit as Iv increased my running so still training heavy weights 4x a week - It could also be the Christmas break and loosing that routine, now back on track. Trying to get that balance. However the big win has been increasing my speed getting a PB every time I turn up to Whangarei Parkrun lol. Which I know will not always be able to be done, however I'm hunting down my best PB which was a few years ago now.
What shoes are you wearing on race day?
Hey team - hope you are enjoying the long weekend! Here is the Week 6 homework: Have you decided on your race shoes? Need any suggestions or undecided what to choose?

I was fitted with my New Balance about 6 years ago and have just stuck with them. I was fitted at Smiths Sports Shoes here in town and they were amazing - highly recommend. At the time I have had massive issues with Blisters after a Half Marathon and never really had any since - its great when you put on new shoes and just know although a bit snug they will be good.
