A Quick Reflection About Money
Financial responsibility isn't something that many of us were actually "taught," until it was too late. Some of us had to learn the hard way. Let's talk about that. Think back to a time when managing money felt confusing, overwhelming, or just plain hard, whether that was recently or when you were younger. 💜 Then share one thing you wish you'd known about money earlier in life (or even now, if it applies). 💜

I wish I'd known that needing help with money doesn't mean you're irresponsible or stupid - it usually means you were never taught. Money management is a learned skill.

@Ruth Richmond Ugh - SO MANY of us with that one!! Flagship content right there!
Welcome to Life Skills with PrplJennifer 👋
I'm PrplJennifer, and I'm really glad you're here. This space exists because so many of us were never clearly taught the everyday skills that make life feel manageable — things like handling money, setting up routines, navigating work, caring for ourselves, or figuring out “what comes next.” My background is in learning design and adult education, and my passion is breaking complicated, overwhelming topics into practical, usable skills you can apply in real life. This community is here to help you build confidence through knowledge — one skill at a time. Ask questions. Explore at your own pace. Take what’s useful and leave the rest. Above all, thank you for your patience as this community finds itself and grows to its full potential. Much more to come in the new year! My ask of you: Please take a moment to introduce yourself and share one life skill you wish you had learned earlier than you did - or a life skill you'd still like to learn.

@Tina Loose Ooh, that's a good one! Let's definitely talk about that!
5 New-Year-Ready AI Prompts
Here are 5 prompts to help you set smarter goals, avoid burnout, and actually follow through. CHALLENGE: Try one or more of these prompts. Then come back and share the results! - Here’s my New Year’s resolution: “[paste it].” Rewrite it so it's SMART - realistic, measurable, and something I’ll actually stick to. Then break it into weekly actions. - Here’s a goal I keep failing at: “[goal].” Diagnose why I quit every time and redesign the goal to work with my habits instead of against them. - Here are my priorities for 2026: [list]. Design a realistic weekly schedule that supports them without burning me out. - Based on the goals I didn’t finish last year, help me reset them without guilt. What should I keep, change, or let go of? - I want to focus on ONE goal this year: “[goal].” Build a simple system, tracking method, and weekly check-in question to help me stay consistent.

@Lasonja Phoenix Great goal! Did you get a weekly plan, too? (I don’t expect you to share that part.

@Lasonja Phoenix I think that second prompt is going to a game changer!
Goal Setting
It's January! This is the time of year that people set goals and try to develop new habits. What goals have you set for the new year, and how are you doing against them? Be sure to check out the "Setting Goals that Actually Work" course in the classroom to get some tips on how to stick to and reach your goals.

I admit, I'm not great at routine. And ever since I started working from home, my daily habits have gotten very lax. This year, I'm got some simple "self-care" habits that I'd like to improve, and some goals for making this community something really special and helpful. For self-care (no laughing, now!): - Dressed and groomed by 9:00 (yes, I like to head straight into the office and start working in my bathrobe and slippers!) - Exercise for 15 minutes every day - this could be a combination of stretching, walking, strength-building, or physical therapy work - Spend 15 minutes cleaning something every day. For this community: - Publish a new course or module at least every 2 weeks - Engage with all of you with new discussion posts at least 3 times per week, and with your posts and comments daily. - Starting in February, schedule at least one live event per month I've purchased the resources I linked on the Goals course page and will be using them to support these goals. I'm excited about all three of them, but my brain wants to check everything off with the stickers every day! 🤪
New Course Launch: Setting Goals That Actually Work
It's the New Year and many of us are setting New Year's Resolutions or looking ahead to setting goals for work. But have you ever set a goal that felt right in the moment…only to lose momentum weeks, or even days later? You are not alone. Most of us aren’t failing because we lack ambition — we struggle because the way we set goals doesn’t match how real life actually works. That’s why I’m excited to officially launch my first course in this community: Setting Goals That Actually Work This course is about more than dreaming big. It’s about learning how to: - Set goals that reflect your purpose, not someone else’s expectations - Understand why the process of goal-setting matters just as much as the goal itself - Identify the hidden obstacles that quietly derail progress - Build simple systems and habits that support long-term success - Track progress in a way that keeps you aligned and motivated By the end of the course, you won’t just have a list of goals —you’ll have clarity, alignment, and practical tools you can use every day. If you’ve ever felt stuck, overwhelmed, or frustrated by goals that never quite stick, this course is for you. You can access the course now in the Classroom tab. I can’t wait to hear what resonates with you and support you as you put it into practice. Let’s build goals that actually work — together 💜
