Employee Bingo #2
Let go of an underperforming team member last week only to find out this week that I as unaware of exactly how bad the problem was. Found out the employee had gone around on one of her last days and was looking for clothes that would fit her family members, only to grab those clothes, pack them up, and take them home. When confronted about it by another team member after she was no longer on the team she said “I don’t have time to come so you can just call the police.” Couldn’t make it up if I tried

A now former employee notifies me at 2 am that they will not be showing up for their 7 am shift as they found a new job. Malice? Incompetence? What do you think?

A Reason to Quit?
This week I showed up to one of my stores at a time I am usually not there, when I showed up I noticed that one of my employees was not there. As the employee is an hourly employee and I wasn't notified, this was quite odd and not something that should have been happening. I was there dealing with another issue and didn't say anything immediately. After leaving, I checked and sure enough the employee was on the clock and not at work, an obvious problem. The next day I went to confront the employee about the situation and give a very simple written warning. We go through the whole written warning things and as I am leaving I head laughing from two of my employees, odd timing but nothing that is truly out of the ordinary. Later that I evening, I received a message from this employee that they "No longer feel comfortable in this work environment." I guess this employee was only comfortable working for me if they were able to steal time and money from me. End result, they quit their job and I no longer have what was clearly a source of bad culture.
