What are the risks of using your card internationally, I see for banks like Capital One its a firm no, but what of for AMEX, just got the BCE and I'm scared of shutdown. I use Capital One strictly for U.S so no issues yet.

I got an Amex Hilton Honors recently applied using ITIN. I did not put some US charge and brought it to vacation. The card was fine until I put large charge on that. Amex agent told me that there is a limit before fraud alert kick in (I’m not sure how much) but that’s something to be aware of.

@Frank Freeman It was about $500. I called in, they asked to verify me by US phone number (I don’t have one since I use my Canadian phone number), or US issues id (also not work for me). In the end, they asked to verify using NotaryCam, which is a virtual notary service to verify my id.
