I am in law enforcement and will be transferred to more of an administrative roll in a couple weeks. This position is going to require significantly more liaising with my city management in a professional setting. Therefore I will be wearing mostly business casual from now on, as opposed to a uniform. Does anyone have any good recommendations for footwear that looks professional, but can still be used if I have to respond to an incident that is police related? Also any that may provide back support as well. Thanks for any advice.

So I went to a presentation this week for an organization I am a member of. I was going to do blazer and shirt (no tie), but decided on wearing a suit (with tie). Would say a good 80% of the attendees went the blazer route or business casual. Call me “old school” but I heard from someone, can’t remember who, it’s better to be a little overdressed than underdressed. However not being in the business professional environment for quite some time, and the style changes, could this be considered “overdressed”? These events happen monthly and I will be attending next month. Thanks for any input.

I was told, and maybe given bad information, should your shoe color match your belt color generally as a rule? Especially when not dressing casual.
