#OpenToWork & #Hiring
Share opportunities or collaborations that may benefit others. Examples: • Hiring needs • Services offerings • Project collaboration • Introductions • Speaking opportunities • Writing collaborations Novus exists to help members create opportunity for one another. Every strong professional community starts with good conversations. Here are a few prompts to get things moving: 1. What skill are you actively building right now? What are you learning, practicing, or experimenting with in your work or career? 2. What idea or perspective are you exploring more publicly? Writing, speaking, building, mentoring, or sharing insights with others. 3. What opportunity are you hoping to create or move toward this year? A role, project, collaboration, or direction you’re intentionally working toward. Feel free to respond to one of these or start a new discussion of your own. The goal is simple:share ideas, learn from each other, and help one another grow.

Thanks for the tip @Tania Canedo. You bring up a good point here. I wonder if there’s a way to identify in our profiles what our jobs / skills are and if we’re seeking or offering / know of who has open roles. I know now that you’re in sales or business / partner development because of your title and also that you’ve recently been hired. I’ve also recently been hired at Presidio (they’re a large tech consulting shop like Accenture or PWC). My role is a “Field CTO” and I sit between tech and sales, product, engineering, marketing and customer experience.
What Are You Building?
What skill, project, or capability are you actively building right now? Examples: • Technical skill • Writing • Leadership capability • Career transition • Business idea Novus is built on three simple principles. First, servant leadership. The most effective professionals focus on helping others succeed. When people support one another, share ideas openly, and contribute to the growth of those around them, strong networks and opportunities naturally emerge. Second, how opportunity compounds: • Contribution creates credibility. • Credibility creates signal. • Signal creates opportunity. Careers grow when professionals consistently contribute value and share their ideas with others. Third, how intentional careers are built: Build → Signal → Lead • Build real capability through learning and experience. • Signal your ideas so others can see the value you create. • Lead by helping others grow. Novus exists for professionals who believe careers are built intentionally through skill, signal, and service. If these ideas resonate with you, you’re in the right place.

Welcome @Nikola Marinkovic. I’d love to have a public chat here with you about developing brand. For years I’ve been working to establish my professional brand as a storyteller, marketer, technical leader, etc. vs, just as an engineer or architect individual contributor. I recently changed my LinkedIn banner to an image of my on stage and some brand text too, but I don’t really know what I’m doing there.

I love these discussions. Like the one we’re having on LinkedIn. We may consider moving more of our LI chats here and making them public in one of the discussion threads. There’s likely some wisdom for others in our chats. What time zone are you in? I’d like to schedule the first “Friday coffee chat” / open forum thing through the platform. Even if it’s just us that shows up and chats. I’d like to test that feature in the platform.
Welcome to Novus
We created this community around a simple belief: careers grow fastest when professionals help each other grow. That belief comes from servant leadership - a spirit of service I first learned in the military and have practiced throughout my career. Take care of the people around you, and success tends to follow. Modern careers are rarely linear. They are systems of skill, signal, and service built intentionally over time. The best opportunities rarely appear through formal career paths. They emerge from trusted relationships, shared ideas, and people who recognize the value you bring. Novus exists for professionals who want to create personal agency within that system. A simple idea sits at the center of this community: • Contribution creates credibility. • Credibility creates signal. • Signal creates opportunity. You’ll also see another framework here: Build → Signal → Lead Build real capability through learning and experience. Signal your ideas so others can see the value you create. Lead by helping others grow. If you’re here, you’re part of the founding group helping shape this community. Start by introducing yourself. Tell us what you’re working on, what you’re learning, or what opportunities you’re exploring right now. Glad you’re here.

Welcome @Nikola Marinkovic, so glad you’re here. From your LinkedIn profile it looks like you’re skill and interest includes brand, marketing, graphic design, etc. This is very exciting and helpful to me personally. I lack formal education and training in this domain, but it’s something I’m very interested in and passionate about. Throughout my career I’ve sought and found opportunities to create content for sales, engineering as well as writing articles, speaking publicly, podcasts, etc. A large part of my focus on growing my network is to create opportunities to do more storytelling and find roles where I can do this work. It’s actuality what I want to do full time.

I’m looking forward to learning from you and giving back whatever I can. I’m going to schedule a weekly video discussion for our group. I’m thinking that members can also use that time to speak and give guidance to the community as well as create short courses, content, etc.
LinkedIn Posts: QA & Support
This is the workshop. Not the stage. If you want polite applause, post on LinkedIn. If you want to get better, post here first. Use this space to pressure test your ideas before they go live. Hooks, drafts, half-baked thoughts, all of it is fair game. The goal is simple: say it better, make it land harder, and cut the fluff. How to use it: • Drop a draft and tell us what you want ripped apart • Bring two versions and let the room decide • Share a rough idea and build it out together • Give feedback that actually helps, not just “this is great” Ground rules: • No ego. We’re all in here trying to improve • Be honest, not harsh. There’s a difference • If you ask for feedback, don’t defend every line • If you give feedback, make it useful This is where signal gets built before the world sees it. Let’s get to work.
