Shutting Down
I'm sorry for the late notice. I'm shutting the group down. I don't have time to properly build the group and I can't justify the expense when none of us are participating. You will retain access to everything but we won't be able to post anything new once the group is archived. If I do decide to attempt to build a swe community in the future I will email you all.
Minor Update
Hey All. Sorry for being silent for the last several weeks. I have had some trouble getting on here since I started my new role. On a related note, since the new role is contract I've continued interviewing elsewhere. I have a full loop with one of the FAANG companies this week. I don't want to say who yet but I will be sharing my notes and other materials I generate while prepping for their System design and DSA interviews.
Reading Recommendation: Duolingo's Machine Learning Model 'Birdbrain'
Hey, i came across a great read about the development of the Birdbrain model built for Duolingo. It explores what worked well, what didn't and why, lessons learned - the whole process from the AI engineering team. I particularly liked this because it takes you through the history of the Duolingo app from no ai to developing the Birdbrain system for personlised learning... discussing the business problems and engineering the right solution. There's one or two details that go a little over my head... but i need to learn more about neural networks so thats cool. Its a real world application i've enjoyed using and i don't often get to hear the engineering development story of these apps so it was an awesome read. I thought it would be great to share here. If you check it out, let me know your thoughts! https://spectrum.ieee.org/duolingo

Awesome share. I will give that a read for sure.
Discussion #golang #backend
I often see Golang being a primary requirement for backend developer roles and I often wonder if I want to add the experience of Golang or any other language in general, do I show a project or an online course? Say the requirement is 0-2 years of Golang, how do you approach this situation?

This is a great question. I wouldn't learn a language for a potential job i.e. don't do learn a language just to try for a particular job. I would take the time to learn a language if you have an offer from a company that uses it, or if you have a project you really want to do in that language.
Tubi Early Career Program
Hey All, I wanted to share this post that came up in my fee. It is for early career engineers. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/activity-7304732483558735872-zubr?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop&rcm=ACoAAAnzQT0BgeKAXau-qmqWKgzkl4p0xRk3JCE

@Hari Prakash Vel I stopped looking at the details when it said you have to have less than x years of experience. I don't recall what x was just that I'm way past it.
