@Ana Paula Muffato I guess I was thinking it would also be good to have before for fluid retention?

@Ana Paula Muffato Correct, and I’m not trying to sweat less, rather maintain better fluid balances throughout the run for all bodily functions. I know I’ll sweat either way haha

Marathon FUEL?
I ran with the Go Gels from BPN. They taste good and worked with my stomach! Each get has about 25g of carbs. I had 1 every 4 mile and a caffeinated one on miles 12 and 20 and an electrolyte pill every 45min and that seemed to help keep cramps away and energy up!

Patience is the key 🔑 we need
Happy Monday, Runners! I thought I’d start the week by sharing a personal challenge I faced with sports nutrition. When I was training for my first half-marathon this year, I struggled a lot with GI issues during long runs. I know this is a very common “problem” among runners, but as a sports nutritionist who always eats well, it felt unacceptable to me to have to go through this. It was a really tough time for me. I didn’t perform as well as I should have in many workouts, and that made me really sad. And it took me a long time to figure out the right fuel, train my gut, figure out what to eat the day before workouts, test different gel brands, and get to know and understand my body. After many attempts, products, studies, and tests, I finally figured out what works for me and ran an incredible half-marathon, without GI issues, and in the time I wanted. All this to say that sometimes what we need most is patience with ourselves and with the process. Even more so when we’re dealing with some pain. 👉 Tell me, have you ever faced any difficulties while running?

In high school I couldn't get faster than a 24 min 5k. Which for the rest of the team was SLOW! later I found I had anemia. looking back I think it was more realistically side effects from REDS. I was almost 6 feet tall and only about 120 pounds. I likely wasnt fueling well and I never was able to train hard and fast and i stayed slow. NUTRITION is just as important as the running. if not more important. Now I can hold a 8min mile for 20 miles lol
