Why training in the morning is a game changer for me
A lot of us in this community are millennials—30s, 40s, even pushing into our 50s. Careers are demanding, family life is busy, and yet there’s still that fire to feel and perform like an athlete again. The problem? By the end of the day, energy is gone. Deadlines, kids’ activities, and life in general usually win. That’s why I’m such a big believer in morning training. It’s not always easy to roll out of bed and move, but the payoff is huge: - Consistency sticks. You get it done before the day can throw curveballs. - Energy and focus rise. Training early fires up your brain and sets you up for a sharper day. - Better control over fat loss and muscle retention. Especially important as metabolism naturally slows with age. - Improved sleep. Evening workouts often mess with rest—morning sessions help regulate your rhythm. - Lower stress baseline. You start the day with a win and carry that mental edge everywhere else. For millennial athletes trying to balance careers, families, and fitness, morning movement is a simple shift that changes everything. Curious—how many of you here already train in the mornings? And if not, what’s been the biggest barrier to trying it?

Why Recovery Days Are Non-Negotiable
Most athletes think progress comes from training harder. But the reality? You don’t get stronger in the workout — you get stronger in recovery. Skipping recovery is one of the biggest mistakes I see grown-up athletes make. More miles, more laps, or more weights doesn’t always equal better results. Here’s why recovery days matter: - Muscle repair & growth → your body adapts and builds here, not when you keep breaking it down. - Injury prevention → less chance of overuse injuries that sideline your training. - Performance gains → you come back sharper, stronger, and able to push harder. - Energy & motivation → prevents burnout and keeps you consistent week after week. - Better body composition → when stress is managed, your body actually changes the way you want it to. And remember — recovery doesn’t mean doing nothing. It could be: - A 20–30 min easy swim, bike, or walk - Yoga or mobility flow - Prioritizing more sleep and stretching 👉 At Pike Performance, I program recovery days into every plan — because without them, the work you’re putting in doesn’t stick. What’s your favorite way to recover? Drop it below — let’s learn from each other.

Welcome to the Grown-Up Athlete Movement
What is a Grown-Up Athlete? It’s not about six-pack abs or podium finishes—though hey, we won’t stop you. It’s about choosing to stay athletic as an adult, even when life gets busy. You’re not training for Olympic Trials anymore (or maybe you never did). You’re training to feel strong, confident, and capable—for life. Here’s what being a Grown-Up Athlete looks like: 🏃 Running around the yard with your kids without getting winded 🏊‍♂️ Racing your kids in the pool and actually giving them a challenge 💪 Lifting weights because you love training—not punishment 🧠 Committing to the process even when you’re not chasing medals 🔥 Walking into the neighborhood BBQ as the best-looking version of yourself 🏅 Signing up for races not just to compete—but to celebrate what your body can do ❤️ Choosing health and athleticism as a lifestyle, not a phase Maybe you were an athlete growing up and can’t imagine life without it. Or maybe you’re just now becoming the athlete you always wanted to be. Either way—you’re in the right place. This community is for adults who want to move well, look strong, and live like athletes… without sacrificing their careers, families, or love for life. I’ll be sharing workouts, race prep strategies, training mindset shifts, and simple nutrition solutions that help busy grown-ups train smart—so we can stay in the game for decades. My goal? To stay athletic, competitive on my own terms, and help you do the same. Drop a quick hello in the comments and let me know what being a grown-up athlete means to you 💬👇 Let’s train. — Jared
