🖤 Tell us one cool/random thing about you (that doesn’t have to do with motorcycles)
Okay I want to know more about the humans behind the helmets 👀 Tell us one or more cool, random, unexpected or niche thing about yourself that doesn’t necessarily have to do with motorcycles! Could be: - weird skill - unusual job - hidden talent - random life story - hobby - country you lived in - something nobody would guess about you I’ll start 👇 - I’m 5’4” and ride a KTM 1290 Super Duke R so I basically look like a child stealing a motorcycle - I spent most of my teenage years living in mainland China and became fluent in Mandarin within about two years (reading/writing too, although I’d definitely need practice now 😅) - I’m also a French-trained chef 👩🏻‍🍳 Your turn 👀🖤

@Bel Parker oh Bel! That’s exactly how I feel too! I rode both professionally and privately for decades - 🥹 I’m only just coming back to both after a lengthy hiatus - but I used to tell everyone back in the day how there is like a flow state that you get with both Bikes and Horses that are so very similar - yet so different. You would know what I mean when you’re on a horse and you just feel part of the horse (just like on a bike, on a good day 😅) and it feels like you almost only need to “think” about what you want to do and the bike/horse responds. So in synch. It’s the most beautiful feeling hey. I’ve just bought my first bike in 18 years literally picking it up this morning and I have my first ride booked, on a horse, after 13 years, for next week.🥹🥹 I’m 64 in a couple of weeks. I’m so bloody happy.🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹
New Bike! What do I need?
Hi All, I have just bought a BMW GS 310 - I intend to ride it mostly around our Queensland Coastal and hinterland sealed and dirt roads generally only going out for short rides or half a day - I’ve been thinking about what extras I should buy for it. If this post resonates with anyone and/or they have a similar bike, could you please share what you bought? I’m thinking some kind of quadlock for my phone, but I am a bit worried with weather because it’s got a cracked screen so maybe a cover for it? Some kind of bike lock to- to stop someone stealing my bike. Both when I’m parked up somewhere and maybe gone for a walk or from my garage at home when I leave it open (I don’t always Lock it cause my Animals like to snooze in there.…) also those Insta 360s look pretty fun. Any advice on those? I am thinking of getting crash bars put on the bike and maybe replacing the plastic guard underneath it for a stronger one… The bag on the back doesn’t come with the bike… I thought I might get a Tank bag… I used to have one years ago and loved it. Thoughts? And maybe some basic mechanical stuff? I know nothing about that kind of thing… anyone from coastal Queensland know the best chain lube on the market currently for bikes that do on and off off-road? Salty air, humid conditions. BasicallyI want to set myself up with a few things before the end of the financial year while the sales are on! It’s going to be an expensive month for me, ha ha. Being Queensland I’m going to have to think about some cooler protective gear too - any suggestions? Gratefully received!

@Luce Taverner thank you so much - great advice! 👌 and yes, I had a refresher with QMS last week and have another one booked fornext week… Which I can now do on my own bike which is even better. We didn’t have all the rider training that they have available now back in the 80s when I got my license! Nothing like this group 🥹, no social media, no YouTube😅 just a bunch of fellas giving you dubious advices (hmmm maybe that part hasn’t changed🤣🤣🤣🤣)

I am literally right at the start of my returning rider journey! Going to test ride a BMWGS 310 this afternoon- I was always passionate about Sports Bikes (my last three bikes 20+ years ago were CBR1000 F x2 and the love of my BIKE life, and the last bike I had (2003-2008) CBR600RR ❤️ But now I’m coming back after this 18 year break 😅 and I’m 64 in a couple of weeks with a bit of a dodgy back and niggly shoulders- so planning to start on a bike that won’t be so costly if I drop it and will also allow me to feel more confident on the dirt roads near where I live, versatility will open up more route options to me 🤘😀 I hope to be able to ride a sports bike at some point although poking my nose into a shop in Maroochydore the other day they said they don’t allow test rides on the Hondas so I’ll have to hope I make some contacts who are willing to let me have a ride sometime over the next year! Anyway great to be here I love seeing how many more women ride these days!!!!! or maybe it’s just more obvious because of the online thing - 2003 photo!! That bike still looks bloody beautiful hey?

@Luce Taverner oh thank you that makes sense… yeah they mustn’t have had any demos cause they straight out said no we don’t allow test rides. With a better luck I’ll find a secondhand one somewhere but either way I got the 310! I know I just can’t lose with it. Went out for about 25 k’s this afternoon. Just down to Coolum from Sunrise and back (being a Queensland girl you know what I’m talking about😅) and it felt like I’ve never been off the bikes… My second ride in 18 years…🤣🫣 So bizarre! Muscle memory hey!
