When I started Smidgen of Calm I never imagined we’d become a community of over 100 creative souls. ✨ So rather than celebrating me, I’d love to celebrate us. 🙏🏼🙌🏻❤️ Here’s the challenge… Create one tiny square of art ! It can be a doodle, painting, collage, photograph, poem, pattern, pressed flower… absolutely anything that feels like you. Keep it small. Keep it joyful. Keep it unapologetically yours. Once everyone has shared their square, I’ll stitch them together into one giant artwork that represents this wonderful little corner of the internet. One hundred people. One hundred different stories. One beautiful piece of art. I genuinely can’t wait to see what we create together. 💜

This little fella landed right next to me yesterday and stayed long enough for me to grab a few photos. What a beautiful creature. 🐉✨ Dragonflies always feel a little bit magical to me, like tiny prehistoric helicopters with stained-glass wings. The detail on them is incredible when you stop and really look. 👀 A gentle reminder that sometimes the most extraordinary moments arrive when we simply slow down enough to notice them. ❤️💚🌱 What beautiful things have you spotted lately? 👀🌿

A friend of mine across the globe who owns her own business in magical wonderful woo - made a post this morning on FB. Seems like she has a lot going on in her world too and is feeling that pressure! What grabbed my attention though before I even read her words - was the visual of a tree. For those that know my style with nature - I LOVE taking pics of trees and their canopies but I never connected a possible why. Look at this visual and consider it in your life comings and goings too. The circles in the trunk are beautiful and showcase life of the tree right? But do we feel we are going in circles and getting nowhere? Now look at the visual on the right. The height, the canopy, all of it so beautiful!! We are moving upwards even if we feel we are going in circles. Each day is a little more growth than the next. All equalling out to this life’s journey. What are your thoughts on this?

Yesterday I took Reggie for a walk around the woods. I grabbed a few videos while we were out, although I now have a mountain of editing waiting for me! 🤦🏻‍♀️ What I did manage to do was capture some lovely still shots. Photography is such a wonderful creative outlet. These days, with the cameras we carry around in our pockets, it’s so much easier than lugging a big camera everywhere.📷🎥📽️ The walk itself was exactly what I needed. The birds were in full chorus, the woodland was full of little details to notice, and for a while everything else seemed to quieten down. Sorry I’ve been a little quiet this week. I’ve got a lot going on behind the scenes at the moment, but moments like this remind me to slow down, look around, and stay grounded. Sometimes a smidgen of calm can be found beneath the trees. 🌿🐾
