Instructions for Having a Soul
Take it out in the rain sometimes. It has vast, invisible wings that gather dirt and need rinsing. When it tries to kill you that is because you've forgotten to let it look into someone's eyes for longer than a minute. It needs that the way a bee needs nectar in the early morning dew. Every so often, take it on a journey. Let it read long, hard books and let it stare into the depths of the sea. Yes, you can give it chips and whiskey, but from time to time let it kneel in a place that is holy like the simple cathedral of the willows. All it wants is to live, to keep becoming. Nourish it, and it puts down roots, it opens. But starve it, and the mind, the flesh is empty; the world breaks down; symphonies go unwritten; the rockets fall; the children die in flames. Listen. It is not too late to wake it. Say the names of the wild, the forgotten things: bluebird, red wolf, robin; violet, child, clover. You cannot save the world but you can open the window for the trapped wren in the cellar. Read a book to a blind man, to your father. Tell a child you do believe her anger. Make your life the first life that you save. Joseph Fasano

When the Channel Narrows
Sometimes the signal isn’t telling you to push harder. Sometimes the system slows down. The tool goes offline. The body gets tired. The usual output isn’t available. And the first impulse can be to resist it. To force productivity. To find another route immediately. To treat the interruption like failure. But what if the interruption is information? Today reminded me of something simple: When the channel narrows, I can narrow with it. I don’t have to turn reduced capacity into panic. I don’t have to make rest mean I’m falling behind. I don’t have to demand the same output from conditions that have clearly changed. I can observe what is available. I can adapt. I can rest. That is part of flow too. Symbolic Literacy isn’t only about reading dreams, images, synchronicities, or symbols. Sometimes it is reading the conditions of an ordinary day well enough to stop fighting them. The pause can be part of the pattern. The limit can be information. Rest can still belong to movement. 🧬🌊📯

Adopted Adaptations
Sometimes what feels like personality is actually adaptation. We learn ways to move through the world because they help us survive a particular environment. Avoid the crowd. Stay home. Don’t ask for help. Don’t be too visible. Control the conditions. Make people come to you. At first, these strategies can feel protective. And sometimes they are. But an adaptation can become so familiar that we stop noticing it as a response and start calling it who we are. That is where observation becomes useful. Change the environment. Change the people. Change the conditions. Then notice what remains. If the same activation keeps appearing after the variables change, you may be getting closer to the deeper pattern. The goal is not to shame the adaptation. It probably served a purpose. The question is whether it still serves you now. Sometimes the refuge that once protected us eventually becomes an enclosure. Awareness helps us recognize the difference. Observe → Recognize → Discern → Choose What was inherited? What was adapted? What was adopted because it worked? And what are you ready to choose differently now?

Sabian Symbol of the Day 📯
Virgo 9° -“A man making a futuristic drawing.” Sometimes the signal arrives before the structure exists. You can see the shape of something before you know how it will work, where it belongs, or whether anyone else will understand it yet. That does not automatically make the vision true. It makes it something to observe. 🪟 Observe What are you noticing that does not have a finished form yet? 🪞 Reflect Is this vision arising from what is actually present, or from what you hope will be present? 🧬 Embody Give the signal a small container. Sketch it. Write it down. Name the pattern. Build the first piece. You do not have to predict the future to participate in creating it. Sometimes Symbolic Literacy is simply learning how to hold a possibility long enough to see what it becomes. Observe → Reflect → Embody Curiosity before certainty. 📯🪟
