2nd time shooting any compound bow
This was from 20 yards, 2 in the red zone -pretty close 2 in the blue zone, not that bad and of course the first arrow was pretty far left. But I felt like I am finally making progress. Been going to the gym for 4 days in a row after 1,5 years away, every muscle in the body was super sore. I think I shot a total of 20 arrows before stopping as I was not able to be as steady as I wanted, but that will come in a few more weeks.

Thanks Anthony, I will attempt to go on Friday for a short while if work allows it. Saturdays would probably be pretty crowded.
Wisconsin Midstate Classic finish
Well ended up in 8th. Shooter’s definitely getting better. If I shot this score last year it would have been 4th. I’ll take it knowing I still have things to improve on

Hey Anthony, I am new to this. How far away are the targets, how many arrows and how are the points totaled?

@Anthony Nelson That grouping all looks excellent, guess it takes an expert to tell on those 3 d targets. Once I get consistent and confident then this would be a fun way to track your progress with actual data versus a feeling that you are getting better.
Hunting and fitness
I like to train in the gym with the goal in mind to be able to go farther, stay longer, and have the strength and endurance to hold my bow at full draw with prefect form for an extended period of time. I don’t want my body to be one of the reasons I miss a shot on an animal. Does anyone else train with this mindset in the off season and what kind of programs are you running to reach your goals.

Just started up at the gym , 5 days in a row now and I thought I was stronger but I was mistaken...lol. Every muscle hurts. Felt like a 100 year old man 2 days after squats. To sit down in a chair was slow motion, to get up needed the arms like when you do a dip. You younger guys do not ever stop your weight lifting as getting back into it sucks. But this is a must to be able to pull 50 arrows and also hike many miles on those hunts.
If you have a good shop. Be thankful
Unfortunately my shop I had been going to since I started archery closed about a month or two ago. They had great techs, great customer service & always did a bang up job. I’ve since had to go to another shop, which doesn’t have the best reputation. Needed a new center serving. I bet I haven’t put 100 arrows through my bow since I got it & look at this! Already unraveled. I have a shoot Saturday & Sunday, that I’ll probably miss. So if you have a good shop. Support them & buy everything you can from them.

I have to travel almost 30 miles one way, but I try to support the pro shop versus the big box stores.
Standing front lateral raises?
Hi Casey I went to the Pro shop in my area this morning and got a little one on one time with the guy who works there, and we worked on sighting me in. I was able to get 3 of 12 arrows on a small target from 20 yards. I was working on getting the knuckles on the right spot below the ear and the bow string on to the corner of my mouth and the string also touching my nose- sort of a 3 point of contact before firing. Well after about 12 arrows I could feel the left delt muscle start to feel weak. You have the standing lateral raises listed but would a few sets of front lat raises help or is this not needed if I do the side raises?

Thanks Casey, I have my rack of dumbbells here at the office so no excuses!
