📅 1. 3. 2026 – Night Shift at the Stroke Unit
Hello, this is Jakub. Welcome to another—and this time the last—live broadcast from my shifts at the stroke unit. Today is Sunday, March 1, 2026, and I'm going into the third and final night of this weekend marathon. Friday, Saturday, and now Sunday. Three nights in a row, my body is slowly feeling it, but the final stretch must be done. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🌙 Before the Shift – How I Tune In for the Finale ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I woke up around 15:00. My body asked for rest, and I listened. I made myself eggs—a breakfast/lunch that kicks off the day, even if it starts in the afternoon. Then I tidied up a bit at home. At least I moved around and wasn’t completely like a stump. I brewed coffee, sat for a while, and looked out the window. The last day off before a night shift is always a bit strange—the body knows what’s coming and tries to soak up as much calm as possible. At 17:20, I take a shower. A ritual before every shift—wash off the home world and tune into hospital mode. Then I get ready and check I have everything—snack, keys, phone. Just after 18:00, I sit in the car and head to Homolka. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🚗 Journey and Arrival ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:15 – Arrival at Homolka I park and quickly run to the locker room. I change into clean hospital scrubs—light green, fresh for the last shift too. Then I hop to the canteen to pick up dinner. Today they have chicken strips with pea fries. Looks good; I take it with me to the ICU. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🧑⚕️ Shift Handover and Evening Routine ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:30 – Shift Handover
