Last night was open mic night at my local bar. Every Tuesday. My buddy that I play fiddle for the Celtic Rock band used my fifth song to olay together. We plazed Zombie. (One of my absolute favorites to play.) The bar was pretty packed for a typical Tuesday. But we were a hit. Sadly, I didn't get it on video, but the ENTIRE BAR was singing the song with us. And during the chorus, they got reallllly loud. The bar was hoppin and everyone was jammin out. It's such a rush to be on stage playing and have the entire crowd join in and sing what you're playing. This is what I was born to do. ~~Fiddle on~~ 🎻

What has everyone’s projects been at the minute? Mine has been La Vernia. Jenny has been helping me with this one. Like many people here, when the camera is on recording, it seems tens times as harder , with a ton of pressure seeking perfection. I wanted to do a double run through but for some unknown reason my fingers want to stumble on the last hurdle.Then when I try to do just one run through, it feels like it’s amplified the pressure and I make the same mistakes. So please bare with me as it isn’t my best because this is the 100th take this week of it, but, I needed to post it, so I can move on and next year I will post again with a double run through with little or no mistakes 😁 Thank you for taking the time to listen.

Out of interest, how long do people actually practice for and the frequency of their practice. I aim for at least 15 mins a day ( some days do slip past but I work shifts and it’s easily done especially when I do days and come home knackered) , but I’ve noticed of late that my left hand starts to cramp up now, reducing practice time ( might have something to do with new hand position for attempting vibrato). This is for my own curiosity to know if I need to make more practice/playing time. Thank you for reading

It’s Spring in Austin Texas which means a little bit of everything. Rain, hot, cool breeze… My friend and bandmate Jay used to say, “If you don’t like the weather in Texas, just wait 15 minutes.” Today is rainy with just a peek of sun trying to make its way out from behind the clouds this afternoon. How about where you are? Do we have anyone on the other hemisphere where it’s not even Spring?? I’m wondering who can clock in at the most extreme temps. I’m at 78 degrees F, which I’m guessing is right in the middle. Please drop your temps in the comments and let’s see who it literally THE hottest violinist today. ☺️
